That seems utterly ridiculous! They probably just wanted you to buy a new pair of frames.

The brooch reminds me colour wise, of one of mine, it's such a delicious blue/green isn't it?

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I've had the opposite problem in the UK. I have a pair from the fifties and no optician I've spoken to will touch them because they're worried in case they break them. I'm sure if I forced my money upon them and insisted, they'd do it mind you lol

    Show us your vintage patterns!

I know someone who made the skirt and jacket from this pattern, except she didn't finish the cuffs and spent the day unravelling lol

Oh I've had this too! I've had women cooing over something I've been wearing and I'm secretly thinking, "If only you knew it was from the 80's!" My modern shoes have fooled many people too.

    How tall are you, Ladies?

It's like being Alice In Wonderland, isn't it? There was a pub I used to go to years ago and when you went in the ladies loo, suddenly everything was smaller, it was truly bizarre!

    New target commercial......sigh.....

I always pinned the art nouveau revival down to the sixties myself. I think it was Pizza Express that started in the sixties in London and their logo was/is very art nouveau.

    How tall are you, Ladies?

It's being tall that put me off cottages (random, eh?) as my in-laws live in a 16th century cottage and in heels my head touched their ceiling and I used to hit my head going through doors unless I ducked first. I used to walk in a constant stoop there, I felt like an amazon. As it is, I live...

    fashion revivals

I purchased this jacket in the very early nineties for £2.50. I'm assuming it's eighties as the charity shops then were awash with dirt cheap eighties clothing, but the cut looks very 1940's to me. Most if not all of the 1940's coats I've seen at events are of the same cut. Do you think it's...

    How tall are you, Ladies?

My husband's the same height as me, though he does insist he's an inch taller  Being tall, I do have a fascination with men who are taller than me. I've also encountered in the past, some nasty comments about my being, "So tall." like it's a terrible thing to be this height, but I...

    Nothing but Seamed Stockings

Straight Seams I'm sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere but I was reading a book yesterday and they gave a tip to keep seams straight. Apply a thin layer of vaseline to the back of the leg, exactly where you wish the seam to lay and it should stay put. I haven't tried it...

    Gardens vegetable, flower or other?

We've tried all sorts but that pesky cat still came back! I even tried tea bags scented (liberally soaked) in Olbas Oil to no avail.

Bad Ju Ju associated with vintage jewelry?

I think most things absorb energy, good or bad, over time.

    Do you have a crush?

Douglas Fairbanks Junior and I have a crush on Captain Jack Harkness's coat in Torchwood lol

    Lush Life

Oh I LOVE Lush! I have such a weakness for Karma it's ridiculous! Plus anything that is scented with ylang ylang, jasmine or patchouli. I have also been using their Caca Rogue henna for a while now, I love it.
