Yes, that Model F is an interesting design, did think those chest pockets were a bit too low. Wouldn't mind having one though.
I had an Enfield, found it a little on the boxier side, The collar could've been a little wider.
Now that Oxford, looking mighty fine! Just found out about this design...
Places to buy - Revzilla has a huge selection, lots of products have videos enthusiastically explaining everything about said product, ships fast, accepts returns, good folks overall.
My buddy at UnionGarageNYC.com has a curated selection of good stuff. Check out their take on the waxed cotton...
There are a lot more options for vintage-inspired motorcycle jackets than there used to be. First question - leather or textile. If leather, then style-wise the cafe-racer style or cross zip (Schott Perfecto, Marlon Brando) style? Of course, there are more styles, but these two are the de-facto...
What a lovely jacket. Looks fantastic on you. And yes, makes for a good variation from the usual Buco-style cross zip. Now I don’t know where to start for my own (eventual) cross-zip!!!
I hear ya, I had those nice (but less sturdy - Carrie at Thurston did mention this during my order) diamond pulls, one broke. Down the road I mentioned it in passing on a thread here, next thing someone from Aero contacted me offering to send a replacement for free. Within a week or two they had...
Good Gawd! Looks so awesome. I have a Fontana too, in brown fqhh. Like others said before, your jacket pics all look superb. As for those chest zipper leather pulls, I kinda like them, and plan on including those on the next Aero jacket I order, whenever that happens.
Thanks for sharing photo. Looks awesome! And I hear ya about wife comments. My wife rolls her eyes whenever she sees me on this forum, although she liked an Aero jacket well enough that she follows Thurston Bros on her Instagram and every once in a while comments on a "nice jacket" she sees...
Yeah man, this Commando has been seriously tempting me for some time now. Even tried one on at a store in NYC last Fall, sadly not my size. Thanks for sharing yours. I like this lining the best. Won't mind some fit pics whenever you can :)
Same thought here. The Oxford caught my eye too. I had an Enfield, nice enough but yes, the collar didn't excite me too much. This one is much nicer. Haven't looked through everything, but I remember getting emails from Vanson with scanned copies of their catalog showing many more models we...
I bought mine from Thurston Bros a few years ago, the one with black rayon lining. It’s their comp-weight leather, heavy duty stuff, designed for riding. I ride a lot so it’s definitely up my alley. Wouldn’t consider it my top choice for everyday casual wear - perhaps once I’m done breaking it...
What everybody said. Fantastic jacket, looks great on you. Size smaller might prove too tight for you. In the pics looks like you only have a button-down shirt on? With a sweater or something on, you'll thank the extra room. And with the mouton collar, this is your cool-weather jacket, man...
Happy that my V7 post was helpful. I guess this jacket is still too new to have many pics around on the Web. I hear ya about the Model A history - I really like that extra connection on my stuff too. And I still really like my AR3 (its customised a bit), despite having TWO V7 jackets!!! Best of...
Just throwing this up for your consideration - if you'e thinking about AR3, perhaps consider the Vanson X UnionGarageNYC V7 armored leather jacket as well? I have both and my customised AR3 is longer in the back than my V7. The V7 is UGNYC and Vanson's much tweaked, updated & upgraded take on...
More media ... "Ride with Norman Reedus" current season final episode features a cameo appearance of thisV7 jacket. The Union Garage crew rode with the Walking Dead star for a spring ride earlier this year which got a few minutes time on his motorcycle documentary. Here's the episode link, and...
Cycle World Magazine did a nice feature on Union Garage and owner Chris Lesser recently, amongst other things they discuss this jacket as well as their earlier Vanson colaboraton, the Robinson armored wax cotton jacket...
I have a LW Buco Rider too, have had it for several years now, it's horsehide and plenty thick. I find it pretty similar in thickness to my Vanson comp weight. Feel & texture is a bit different. I've had the LW for a while now and its softer and more pliable than when new. The Vanson oxblood is...
@jacketjunkie if you ever plan on coming to Bhutan, you have to let me know!
@JMax yes, it's a great place to ride, some of my friends have motorcycles for hire, can arrange moto tours etc too ☺
