Chopper in the morning, now this - Aero via Thurston Bros cafe racer in brown FQHH, around 6-7 yrs old, back when they called this 2-pocket design the Fontana. I’ve gotten this soaking wet while riding, which dramatically speeded up the break-in process. Have steadily gained some pounds in the...
Thank you for the kind words! Been a while since I got myself new jackets, just ordered a few, right in time for COVID-19 shutdowns to delay them reaching me when expected. Hopefully soon ...
Yes, they do fit like a second skin, especially when I wear only a single layer, like a t-shirt...
Quarantine chronicles: today, pulling out my other awesome but seldom-worn jacket, the Thedi padded cafe racer. Reason? It’s a little tight in chest, armholes and sleeves. Also the inner sleeve lining is same material as the body lining and with the overall tight fit, it’s sometimes a struggle...
Thank you, yes, it’s quite the beast, Thurston Bros’ version with comp weight leather. Thankfully it doesn’t have the red quilted lining otherwise it would have been quite the super heavyweight! As it is, the very “beastliness” and multiple easier-to-wear jackets in my rotation means I haven’t...
Hey man, just double-checking these numbers. The sole Lost Worlds jacket I have, a Buco Rider from a few years ago, I'm a size 40. I'm also a 40 in the Schott 141 and 118, but I was fairly certain I'm a size 42 in the 641 and 618. Just checking in case a reasonable-priced 641 or 618 turns up...
Rest in Peace. Folks above saying it right - not easy to find a replacement for someone like her, the wealth of accumulated knowledge through decades of intimate immersion in her niche, that's something you just cannot replace with the snap of a finger, especially in a niche field like ours...
Awesome! Nicely broken in, gonna be a while before mine is anywhere close to this in the break-in department. Your Schott version of the Capn’ America jacket was my first choice, but ended up with the 141 back then, which was actually a very nice leather and fit me well. A friend wears it now...
Might as well throw in a shoutout for the mighty V7 jacket, Vanson's collaboration with my buddy, Chris' Brooklyn shop, UnionGarageNYC. Solid Vanson leather, D3O amor pads, understated cafe style and rider-specific tweaks. Superb riding leather jacket. Check 'em out. Run a search on this forum...
Yessir!
Thank you sir, you're too kind. With such encouragement, I'll make it a point to wear these jackets way more than I've been doing last 1-2 years :)
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, no babying these items, they all get put to good, hard use. What prolongs their lives are that, like quite a few here, I have more than my share of leather jackets (with more on the way), denim and boots LOL!
And your recent jacket pics are outstanding too -...
Vanson America-hybrid, has options for armor pads, which I seldom wear these days, preferring to wear an armored shirt underneath if I’m doing long moto rides. Right now, this was just a short hop from home to my construction site - pls excuse the messy background. Still freezing cold here in...
