I had a Prof. at College for Thermodynamics that was like that, he could fill up two black boards with formulas, but could not park his car without running either into the curb, or a lamp post.
My current Boss has said he hates cuff links, I wear them myself sometimes because I like them. What he thinks about this is not clear to me, but I find he stares at them a great deal when we are in meetings.
Liz, you are right about that, we have put a camera system in part of our house inorder to keep an eye on my wife's mother who lives with us. She is 86 and had a fall a couple of years ago and broke her shoulder and could not get to the phone to call us ( we were not home at the time ) or to...
I was just speaking with a friend of mine about that. A guy we both knew fell over dead of a massive heart attack and one of the comments made about his passing was that it was a shocker, but no surprise. He was 58, and a workaohlic.
My wife used to wear them all the time about 10 years ago, but I think they have gone out of style. She still does have one that she wears for smart casual things though.
There were some earlier vehicles out there that were on paar with the Defender, one being the International Harvester Scout. I had one back in the early 80's, tough as nails.

It's in German, but the main point is that less is more. Always chasing the Dollar, Euro, or Peso for that matter is not really the name of the game. Use the skills that you have to the best of your ability, and be satisfied with what you have.

I have Land Rover as a customer so I have regular contact with the Engineers there in Solihull. One of them told me that around 80% of the Defenders ever built are still in service today, a very good record in the automobile world today.
The Lada is still being manufactured. Simple and tough just like the Defender, just does not have the same charm though.

R.I.P Defender !
That was the same with me, taking typing during High School turned out to be very usefull to me. When I moved to Germany I was surprised at how many of my peers in Engineering could not type with more than two fingers, one on each hand that is. It gave me a subtle, but important advantage...
Sad to hear, the Eagles was what I was listening to during the summer of 1977 after graduating High School and before going off th College in September.
I can second your praise of the German health care system. It works very well here even if many people complain about it. It is much worse and much more expensive elsewhere in the world. My wife got sick in Las Vegas years ago and we had to go to an emergency room in one of the local...
Things are locking up already. I work for a large Industrial company and our orderbook is down by over 20% for the first four months of 2016. Not a good sign as we have not lost any contracts, it is that our customers are just taking less of what we sell them.
