That's it! I ordered the jacket on the bay. It's a flight apparel industries, can't wait to get it. Will update you once I receive it on the decal and what I choose to do...

Impressive about your Dad, you must be proud! No problem about the bookmark, my pleasure. Happy to hear you go there every year too.
Thanks for the link, looks great I'll register shortly!
There are a couple of good shows and events here definitely. I don’t have much time to attend unfortunately… shame as you said there are so many airfields around the UK! I’ve started following Sally B a bit – when she’s not too far from where I live. I still haven’t been inside but will make the...
Thanks Archbury, I saw your warbirds link which looks pretty impressive! Not sure if there’s anything like this in the UK but would love to join one, eventually.
With regards to your comment about decals, there’s a picture I saw of an original A2 (you probably know the website already)...
Thanks Archbury (I like the name by the way!), I don't know what type of decal it is yet as I haven't received the jacket. Will see how I feel about the decal once I get it... and try out (carefully) some of the options suggested. I do like Stand By's suggestion of the patch though (thinking I...
Thanks Stand By, not sure I'd do a good job at the painting!! I do like the idea of getting a vintage patch though. Think I will go this route, if I'm really bothered with th decal....

I have an opportunity to either buy a second hand (but good condition) Flight Apparel Industries A-2 or a new Noble House A-2.
Which would you go for?
I have a feeling FAI is a bit of a more accurate reproduction - although not sure the leather is horsehide or steerhide. Noble House look...
Mr Scratch - just wondering if you had pictures of what your jacket looks like 4 years on? I'm currently eyeing a FAI jacket. Do you know if these were made from horside or steerhide as well?
Thanks
Can anyone recommend where to find a good repro G-1 (WWII type) for about $300-400? I'm thinking the equivalent of US Authentic's A-2 in a way. Is their's any good?
Thanks!
How would you go about that? I've seen a few second hand jackets with nametags on - what would be the best way to get one removed? Would it leave a mark if the tag is not replaced by a new one (i.e. left without a tag)?
Many thanks
Hi all,
While I'm waiting for my future A-2 purchase, I've been looking into the B-15 as well. I didn't like it at first but having looked at it in more details I think it isn't such a bad jacket after all and could look quite good. Clearly can't compete with the A-2 but I'm thinking it could...
Thanks Asienizen. I've heared several comments that USA's cut is slightly longer than other makers. Some have also said they are a bit baggy in the gut area, although I've also heard from others that USA's cut is long bit trim! So I'm not sure... I took my measurements and sent them to Shaul at...
Xopher, do you have any idea what size you'll go for with USA? I'm thinking 42R. I'm 6"1 and 34" waist. I wear size 40-42 usually. I want to be able to wear layers under the jacket thought and want to avoid it being too short at the back.
Thanks a lot, nice photos. Following the advice from most on this website and after further thinking I'm pretty much decided on the goatskin. Makes more sense from a pricing point of view especially given goatskin is generally more robust and ages better. I tend to prefer the color too and I...
Xopher,
I found this link to a US Authentic goatskin review and dome good pics

Thanks, I think the russet horshide looks great from your pics. Was considering goatskin at first but was worried the leather might be the opposite (i.e. too light rather then heavy). I've had quite a few people say the same as you and that goatskin is tougher as well though. Difficult choice!
