Its the amount of shellac they use, not so much about felt quality. I have spent hours pouncing 1970's Resistol Stage Coach hats to use as conversion fedoras. They are STIFF. When pounced, the finish becomes soft as a peach, block just fine, hold up in all kinds of weather......but still have...
Its a true 7 1/8. I wear 7 long oval and its very comfortable. Often when I buy vintage straws, I have to buy 7 1/8 because regular 7's don't fit me. As far as I can tell, the sweatband hasn't shrunk at all.
For sale is a very rare Dunlap Dress Boater. The liner is a beautiful black silk and so is the sweatband. This boater was obviously made for dressier occasions. Its in beautiful shape.
Brim: 2 1/2 inches wide
Crown: 3 3/4 inches tall
Ribbon: 2 inches wide
Circumference: 8 x 6 3/8...
For sale is a very neat hat. Its a fairly lightweight hat and is meant to be worn in warmer weather as evidence by the vented liner. The felt is a beautiful light Gray and has a beautiful semi-long hair finish. The Pug ribbon is a replacement by Optimo and is the exact width as the original. The...
Over the weekend Cristen and I had a 3 hour gig at a really neat French Bistro/Wine Bar. We have played together many times but this was our first Duo gig. Usually there are more people playing with us, but this weekend was just the two of us. It was a blast. Here's a couple pics from it. I'm...
Very interesting, Tom. I never noticed it before, but the Wanderer looks just like a Playboy but with a bound edge. I wonder what made up that 5 dollar price difference? Quality designation perhaps?
Actually I think the bow design that you used looks GREAT! Its very reminiscent of bow designs used on 1930's Derbys. I have also seen similar bow designs in 2 inch ribbon used on soft hats from that time period.
This weekend, Cristen and I played a couple tunes with some friends who had a gig at KC's Cabin. It was a good ol' county time!
.............and Stan and I got down to some "play that funky music." (I didn't know people were taking pictures of that.......there's a video too)...
