Couple of questions. Been wearing fedora style hats for a dozen or so years and have recently increased the quantity as well as the frequency of wearing them. And in the warm, sunny weather particularly they serve well to add noticeable sun protection, in the winter warmth and on rainy days...
I bought it from a men's online clothes store - TRUE MEASURE - used to be JL Powell. They call it a Kiawah straw hate - means nothing, and don't say who the maker is, but I know they are USA and IIFC, a small hatmaker in the South. Actually, the inner band is some kind of cloth, not leather...
Richard and RJR,
Thanks guys, I guess I have to get used to it; maybe another small wrap of tape around the inner band. Why would the straw shrink? I'll try and steam the brim and straighten it out as it was not shipped as well as it needed to. Its not a light weight straw hat by any means...
Question, as most know, buying a hat online can be a gamble, color, crown height and bash, brim width, etc adds to the gamble. Long and short of it, I am size 61 and usually XL - 7 5/8" fits/sits fine. This is a 7 7/8" and was loose, so I inserted a foam strip around the inner band and fits...
Ok, here's a couple straw hats I recently bought at J.J Hat Center in NYC a few weeks ago. Excellent place, btw; bought there before.
Not great pics, just wanted to snap some off quickly. Had a little trouble uploading the 3rd hat, so will try that later.

Ok, Here's a question that's been puzzling me. When and why did upturning the brim on the fedoras and similar hats become so popular recently?
I happen to think it can look ok, but what curious as to the when and why.

Alan,
Incredibly beautiful hat, but I am searching Brooks Brothers for this very hat and can't seem to find it. Is this an older hat, no longer available?

I've been off the Lounge for a loooooooooooooong time and just way, way too many hats and pictures to comment on, but I have to say to Alan and Delectins, your photography is as wonderful ay your hats!
