    Irrational hatred of hats

My wife. She absolutely loves how I look in baseball caps, so she's been fighting my pursuit of the fedora. I have found though the more I include her in my shopping and sizing, the easier the transition is. Well, slightly easier, because she has still blatently said she hates the way I look...

Cigars - Country of Origin Tobacco and Your Favs

I seem to prefer Nicaraguan cigars, as those are the ones I'll buy a 2nd/3rd time after trying one. I'm especially liking Drew Estate lately. Consistantly smooth, slightly nutty, and just overall enjoyable. Dominican cigars seem to be too woody/earthy to me. Macanudo's blend being the...

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

CAO moontrance...meh. Though it was surprisingly smooth for a darker wrapper.

    Hat on the Bed?

Cursory searching found a few things on the ol' internet. It wasn't uncommon to be buried with your hat, either laying on your chest or in the case of a closed casket placed at the foot of the coffin. So seeing a hat placed brim down on a resting place, like your bed, was too close of an...

    Defending your Hat

How did this thread go from defending a gentleman's hat to "my legal vocabulary is better than yours"?

    Hat on the Bed?

I believe its associated with death, as in putting a hat on a bed is bad luck as if its portending to someone dying in the house. I remember my grandmother swatting my baseball cap off of my bed after seeing that I had put it there. Later she told me it would have been ok if I put my hat on...

my imagination or did i wake up in the wrong time

Normally this doesn't bother me, but I was in line at Subway yesterday behind a man who brought his spitter in with him. It was a transparent sports drink bottle, and he was using it as he was order/walking down the Subway bar. Horrid. He's going to be eating soon anyway, couldn't he have...

    Twitter?

Looks like great info on that twitter, but I don't know if I'd follow up. Hourly updates on swine flu outbreaks would probably end up depressing me. I'm just now reading about the fake amber alerts sent via twitter. Outrageous what some people out there think is funny.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Reminds me of the night my brother-in-law, after a night of drinking rum and cokes, ran out of rum, ran out of coke...so he mixed whiskey and orange soda. I don't know why he did it, or where the unholy idea came from, but he regretted it.

    Twitter?

 Gerbils and ghost tweeting? Now that you mention it, when larger entities jump on the Twitter wagon I'm sure a group of writers are generating the tweets. Ie, Ellen Degeneres has been pushing that TheEllenShow is now on Twitter, I'd imagine that a group of writers are penning all...

Has anyone been tempted to buy...

Keep in mind the hats from all 4 movies are different, and made by 4 different hat makers. If I can recall what Gary White told me, I think Stetson made the hat for either the 2nd or the 1st but I'm pretty sure it was the 2nd (Temple of Doom), Mr. White did the hat for the 3rd (Last Crusade)...

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Drew Estates Tabak Especial Dulce Robusto. Very nice, think I like the connecticut wrapper of the Dulce better than the maduro wrapper on the Negra.

    The "Annoying Phrase" Thread

I was just at the airport and had someone pull one of those wheeled suitcases right into my leg. I really wasn't paying attention, had my eyes on the arrivals screen, so I said "I'm sorry" because I may have been in their way (even though I was standing still for about 2 minutes at that point...

Horrible movies, and the people who get duped into waching them....

Concur on Spider-Man 3. Its just too far off, felt like an afterschool TV special of what the story really should have been. I may catch alot of flak for this one but, The Good Shepherd. Just seemed to me that they could have told the same story in an hour less. Plus I never connected at...

Films you EXPECTED to be horrible...but weren't!

House Bunny. My wife wanted to see it, I expected it to be a complete snore. It was a touch slow to start, but turns funny and overall enjoyable. I don't regret renting it at all.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"The Express", about Ernie Davis. Overall a great movie. It doesn't get too hungup on the football but its there so the story flows nicely.

    Twitter?

Just a case in point LD, no disrespect meant. I'm only reusing your own terms. I find twitter far from stupid in the context of how I use it. Getting a tweet on my cell phone from one of my old high school friends about how well his new job is going, well, it just brings a smile to my face...

    Twitter?

Hrmm, I enjoy it. I like receiving updates from long-time friends of mine that live in other states now. I also like getting the tweets from actors I follow. In fact a month or so ago Levar Burton was in Toronto for a talk show interview and spontaneously tweeted he would be at a local pub...

    Twitter?

I upgraded my cell phone plan to include internet back in January. Found myself updating my myspace status more regularly, but didn't like the way mobile.myspace clunked around. Switched to twitter, texting updates, been using it ever since. Same name there as on here.

    Proper hat, proper apparel?

Update! Just had the pleasure of chatting with Gary White in his shop. An amazing place indeed. Dropped the hat off to be overhauled. Clean, block, trim the brim down, streatch to my size and long oval, and maybe a new ribbon. Basically converting the snowy river into a fedora fit for my...
