I use AmLactin lotion, which is kind of prescription-y lactic acid based lotion, but it makes you skin sooooo soft. I was thrilled when I saw it in Jumbo Size at Costco. It doens't smell good at all though- well it doesn't really smell. Its clinical.
This is the only "super moiturizer" that...
Hi guys- (bartenders feel free to move this, if you think it goes better in another spot)
I've been immersing myself in vintage entertaining books and antique etiquette and cooking/baking books. It is, really, an art. My mother is quite versed in these things, and its only now in my adulthood...
:offtopic: Kitty, I find very little about New York glamorous! I am forever joking with friends that nyc is beyond glamorous - if you're rich.
most of us are so busy just trying to pay our $2000+ rents, to glam it up- but we try!
I find my old home New Orleans, very glamorous! ( in sort of...
Nice hair Magpie and Blondie. very sunny and natural!
I am in your boat (or former boat)
Blondie's pre dye hair looks like my hair now (with the slightest bannana custard overcast- which once again I think is from the water in my area)
I have to do a video interview with a fashion...
I am about to find out Kitty T! I think if you were to go it alone you would have to use something like Redkens Shades EQ on your bleached ends, and try to match a higher lift color to the shades to do your roots- (I assume you are a brunette)
I've had far too many hair disasters to try this...
GREAT PICS!
Kamikat- I love the set with the black and red polka dot dress and the cool old typewriter/glasses
A real class act- playful and innocently sexy. what pinup should be
bravo!
Thanks LIZ !
I sometimes just take the plunge with ebay purchases. some are gems some are not- you can always "re-bay" them. The red swimsuit- I'm excited about. Its giving me the reason to try to lose a few pounds before my florida vacation! (eeek I just put the cookie down that was in my...
I had an old boyfriend take me to the Caron Boutique on Madison Ave and I was given a few of their perfumes. French Can Can , Alpona, & Narcisse Blanc.
The perfumes are dispensed into different bottles. Mine even came in a faberge' style egg! quite the grand romanic gesture.
But............ I...
Thanks!
I just love animal prints, and I can't wait to receive my new treasure.
my husband HATES "animal print" anything- I think he thinks they are a little "ab fab" or something.
But most gals I know, especially vintage lovin' gals, can't get enough of leopard print/ zebra printa, spots, etc
Wow! fantastic choice of colors! great cuts. I'm impressed!
Lauren those trousers are so nice. I have a great mid 40s trouser pattern I'm just dying to work on, you've given me inspiration!!
I have seen some extremely gorgeous pieces on Ebay UK. There are a couple auction houses in london that do live auctions and they have lots of the most amazing 20s, 30s, 40s dresses. I cringe because with the GBP, I'd never be able to resell them, but when I win the lottery I'm going to bid on...
Maybe it is 1930s! That wouldn't surprise me- It bore no label whatsoever- I'm by no means an expert on men's vintage, the piece *did* seem much older, just from the construction details- Hard to explain- really delicate.
I usually sell that are 50s, 60s, mod-hardy amies/thom browne styled...
Its been quite awhile since I've posted - so I have a bunch of treasures to share!
1930s dress
1940s Owl Cookie Jar
1940s western "queen of the rodeo" jacket. This is so awesome I have to post two views!
1940s cold rayon floral dress
1930's Deco spotted fur coat. the cut is fantastic...
Here is a shot of the Pierre Cardin double breasted. Its definately from the 70's, I can just tell by the label (I have a huge amount of 60's cardin paris, that I treasure) But I think its really nice- especially since its really gorgeous cashmere wool, in a charcoal gray, a very perfect winter...
I just found this dinner suit/tuxedo piece. I'm trying to figure outs its age. any ideas?
although I can date women's clothing down to season and year most of the time-, men's vintage is my new exploration. From my experience with vintage- its older- pre 50s. Single button- maybe I'm totally...
Hey Fellas, I got all your messages. In my double breasted land, I have two really swank ones, and a Pierre Cardin, which feels to me to be cashmere wool. (in charcoal grey with a subtle wider pinstripe?)
I am running to an appointment, but I shall measure. I've taken some pictures of my...
I always buy some Topman for MYSELF when I'm in the UK.
the cardigans, and suit jackets (size 34 or XS) are great when I'm feeling a little Marlene Deitrich.
most recently I picked up a black cardigan and a slim "mad men" style jacket. (is it okay for a girl to work the mad men look too? I...
Thank you so much for the cost of living calculator!!
I have always wondered such things- especially when I buy "deadstock" vintage clothing and I see the prices and wonder how they would compare for today.
My father has a menu from The Brown Derby- totally cool, but made even more cool by...
Oh cool! I checked out the website, it looks so cute!
I will definitely try to stop by when I'm down in Austin for the SXSW music festival..
I'm making a list right now of all the vintage stores, salons, bars, I want to visit, this definately looks like a spot to check out. Maybe I can get...
