hello amex bill!
Dinerman- Your coat is awesome. I love the collar.
Skyvue- Great coat and Scarf.
Tdawg- great black trench- and from your picture-I definately would not want to "tee you off". haha
I just bought three coats for myself for the winter "blues" (great excuse to shop!
I do a great deal of menswear styling- Thom Brown definately has a "hold" on the uber fashion conscious set of males in this town.
Any other NYC person will agree that the men here- (and probably even more-so in London) wear their clothing tightttttt.
There is a common joke with a few...
You know, Only recently did I do a complete "overhaul" of my vintage wardrobe, I've been wearing vintage for 13 years- often I think it happens to us girls, because if you want to wear vintage- (and not inspired- but more on that later)
Its harder to accumulate due to its rarity and/or size...
I don't know about any of you other gals, but I'm a foodie.
Right now I'm pouring over Gourmet magazines "southern cooking" collector's edition, and planning my recipes.
Cooking and Baking, are such a huge part of my life, that even when I noticed I was ::ahem:: gently expanding my size 6...
make your own red!
I think its definately something to think about.
I was a makeup artist for a long time, and my fellow artists would always ask one another to pick up various Chanel lipsticks for each other when we were working in Paris-because, the formulations were different than in the...
interesting!
oh cool..
yet another interesting person that shares my birthday! (today, 26th!)
next to Chairman Mao and Jack Nicholson
we gotta stick together, its a tough day to follow- ha!
I posted this in "whos in your avatar" thread, but I felt the subject matter may appeal to my fabulously 'dark and gloomy' vintage buddies in this thread and the photos are most certainly of the "dark and sinister" variety.
<<though I seem I to change my avatar every few minutes.
My...
I LOVE KLAUS NOMI!
that's right up my alley. I love cabaret music, synth pop, etc etc. I had no idea who he was until a couple years ago, when my friend Daniel introduced me to him, and I was gobsmacked- basically because he was a) a german pastry chef b) so amazingly costumed c) sang like a...
Hi Pigeon Toe! I think you have the right idea! From a makeup artist prospective, (my former job before launching fully into vintage clothing/shoe-dom) would to pencil them or even dye them not black, but a dark brown- ash if your hair tone is black.
Unless you are doing a really "done" look...
Woland- you look like Frank Tovey !!!! ( of the great FAD GADGET- still one of my favorite bands)
wow, its uncanny-
did you do your makeup yourself? its impressive!
Camille- you look like MRS FIEND (from Alien Sex Fiend- of course) in your "goth pic"
I'm going to have to go dig up some...
Hear Hear Ms Brill!
Thats why I get smug joy when those exact snooty people "too good to shop thrift or antique malls" (new york city is crawling with them)
pay $500.00 for a vintage dress, I bought for $10.00!
::maniacal laughter::
Scents by Alexis- for the sophistciated femme fatale
I was always a fan of Creed's Spring Flowers and Silver Mountain Water (even though I think that's supposed to be a male fragrance)
If you wanna go even a little bit more obscure- Try Alexis Karl. She's a sweetheart and custom scented...
Yeah I'd agree, the bottom is very comparable with many dress patterns I have from like- 46-47- it had old store tags on it (though I'm not sure what I did with them now?) and I remember it had something on the tag that said " victory wear" something like that. so perhaps it was right after...
M Tatterscratch- you are not the only one with cemetary love! I love you comments, and I agree-, I think some people are just born with a love of the beauty of decay- or at least the dark romanticism of it all-
You know its funny- but I still have several goth-y hobbies that I keep up.
I...
ME!
I was a 14 year old Cure & Siouxsie and the Banshees listening to goth girl- one day stumbled upon some photos of Bettie Page- around 15- and cut my then dyed black hair with bangs-worked that look until I was around 20.
My parents had vintage style- but I got more and more into...
Wow Lauren, that is GORGEOUS. I have one Fred myself- beautiful designer- but its not nearly as glamorous as yours, and in that creme-oyster color
my oh my!
The cork platforms I bought are 1940s!!- that was why they broke the bank. I will have to take a little trip to bloomingdales to see...
