And so often these tin-pot "entrepreneurs" are selling things they've acquired for peanuts and not happy unless they've turned a twenty-fold profit. Is a black waistcoat acceptable with White Tie?

Day off today... braced heavy flannel trousers, shirt (no tie), knitted waistcoat and tweed jacket with suede elbow patches. I need the coat because I hardly ever switch the heating on. If the coat comes off I can replace the waistcoat with a submariner's jumper.- Dirk Wainscotting

It's much easier and quicker by hand. Sewing on the fly buttons takes longer. Many of the modern toy-looking machines have the same blind-stitch function (you can also do it on many overlockers). Personally I don't think it's anything like as invisible as a hand-sewn blind hem...or a pro blind...- Dirk Wainscotting

If you're going to spend $1,000 on a suit, it shouldn't be off the peg; at least it should include some alterations if it is off the peg. Well...I charge 225 euros for trousers and that's a starting price for mostly machine-made with regular details. When it's mostly handwork and different details the price goes up. The shirt colour has been prescribed by the company. Who on earth chooses black shirts with tan for daytime uniforms?! You'd have to be colour-blind or extremely style-unconscious.
