    The Hot Water treatment-

I will ask a question in this thread, to not create a new one just to ask this. I've bought an G-1 jacket (an original military-issued) from 70's and it was never worn. The leather is completely, how can i say, flat/plain? It do not have the normal "wrinkles" from an used leather jacket. So...

Lewis Leathers' Universal Racer MK1 Repro

I definetely could wear a jacket like that. Interesting that it have a folded area similar to the jacket from Aviator movie. Maybe an trend fashion from that Era.

Thank you thor. Everything lead me to believe that is an 7823(AER). If anyone have an DUBOW 7823(AER) jacket I would like to see some photos of it, or if someone have anymore info it will be much appreciated.

    Gordon and Ferguson M422a

Beautiful jacket. :eusa_clap It's amazing how people can keep it brand new for almost 70 years. I'm wondering, how many jackets each aviator/or officer received in those days, to be able to storage one without use. The only problem with have this kind of jacket is not have courage to wear it...

    Top gun movie jacket

Yes, maybe he did, because the SPEC-J-7823E(AS) not supposed to have "side" pockets. You can download here a .pdf file of the 7823E(AS) specification from 1971: http://www.everyspec.com/MIL-SPECS/MIL-SPECS-MIL-J/MIL-J-7823E_9437/ I agree with you, as everyone says and I've confirmed, the...

    Top gun movie jacket

I Never grabbed an Cockpit's G-1 Vintage model in my hands, but in pictures the jacket looks pretty nice. Look what I've found, an mil. spec. MIL-J-7823E(AS), from Orchard M/C Dist. Inc., contract DLA100-86-C-0481. And it have side entries on the front pockets. [huh]

    Top gun movie jacket

Actually the jacket used on the movie pretty much looks like an 7823(AER) in terms of design. The color of the mounton collar and the pocket flaps have the correct design from 50's in the jacket from the movie. According the movie history, that jacket belong to Maverick's father. In the movie...

    Top gun movie jacket

In this scene you can clearly see that the side of the pocket have an entry and it's not stitched to the front panel. The jacket from the movie could had being custom made to fit perfectly in the actor (Tom Cruise), and then distressed to looks aged. Because there's no way to "ADJUST" a G-1...

    Top gun movie jacket

Hi guys. YES IT'S TRUE, the Maverick's G-1 jacket on the movie have hand warmers. I think they maybe used a civilian g-1 in the movie. About the picture... I've removed the patches with PHOTOSHOP. :D here's the orignal picture ;) Another picture:

    Top gun movie jacket

Unfortunately there's no good replica in the market. You'll have to study about it and create your own. Try to find a jacket with a perfect fit and with same design, then buy the good patches and... do it yourself. It's the only way. I was wondering... AND IF THE MAVERICK'S JACKET, NOT HAD...

Why you love Bomber Jackets. (its bomber jacket season again!)

I love bomber jackets because I love aviation. I'm actually addict in Military Jackets. I only collect (for now) original G-1s and some vintage nomex usaf jackets, but I'm planing to buy a couple A-2s in the near future. As I live outside U.S. i don't had too much personal contact with people...

40's/50's G-1 Jacket: Help to figure out age and spec

AN UPDATE! While i was making a research for some jackets I've found this pictures of an MIL-J-7823(AER) made by J.A. DUBOW SPORTING GOODS CORP. I think it's looks like the same design. The one piece collar, the design of the pocket flaps, the overall jacket's design. The only diferences I've...
