My grandmother's uncle T. Lloyd Garrett, April 1953.
He's always been an inspiration to me, though I never knew him personally. By all accounts he was a wise and well hatted man.
My grandmother's mother's cousin Herman Smith, April 1951.
My grandmother's parents, Willie and Forrest Fickling...
I bought a Miracle Felt Vagabond a couple months ago, and I did post some pictures of it here, that may have been what you saw. I thought it might be the only one of its kind. It's a neat little hat, softest felt I've ever seen.
This Adam Executive "Constellation" weighs in at 4.1oz...
...while this Knox Homburg weighs 5.1oz...
...and this Knox "Miracle Felt" Vagabond weighs only 2.7oz.
I also have a fuzzy western hat of unknown make that weighs a full 9.1 oz.
Here's a 1940s green silk "upside down flowers" number from Weinstock, Lubin & Co.
I'm afraid I don't have any historical knowledge to contribute, but I can tell you it's a very nice tie.
I figure I might as well post my tie collection, I've thought about doing it from time to time, but I never felt like taking all my ties down from the rack to photograph them.
Brown ties, first is a 1940s-50s Dreyfuss & Son from Dallas; second is a 1930s Hoag's Men's Wear "Pebble Beach" with...
I got some Leather Saver from Talas Online, and tested it on my beater's dried out sweatband, now it's really just like new. It worked great for my shoes, too, though they were already quite supple. They claim it's non-toxic, hope they're telling the truth...
Shortly after I wrote that it blew past me and settled down, but I heard there was some damage elsewhere in the Metroplex. And thanks, it's one of my favorite hats.
A rollable Knox Vagabond "Miracle Felt" from eBay, more of which is posted in the Society of Vagabonds thread.
It has the softest felt I've ever seen, and it weighs only 2.7 ounces, but it's a bit too snug on my head, though I'm considering stretching it.
I've got an interesting and unusual Vagabond from eBay to add to the Society. The crown is about 6 inches open, 4 1/2 creased, and the brim is 2 3/16 inches.
It's not an average Vagabond, the felt is very furry and it has a welted edge and a felt band and fabric sweatband. It's a Knox...
Judging by the price and sweatband logo, that hat probably dates to the 1940s, no later than the early 1950s. According to the information here: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?18380-ADAM-ALLEY/page19&p=840931#post840931 and here...

I'd have to say 1945-1950, mostly from 1947 to 1949, more specifically 1947, and in a big city. Like GoldenEraFan said, practically everything was great looking, the music was the best, and the Great Depression and wartime rationing were over and the economy was booming. I prefer the era...
Well, I buy it in Texas, and I bought one in South Carolina when I was on vacation last year, so I know they at least sell it in those two states, and I'd imagine that it spreads out some. I buy it at Cracker Barrel's country store.
Of course, they make Dr. Pepper with cane sugar, too. And come...
I believe it's a Southern thing. I've had it, and it's one of my favorite drinks, tastes sort of like cherry Coke, but with a lot more cherry than Coke. It's made with cane sugar too, so it's not just a vintage styled bottle, it's a vintage styled product.
It's great stuff. In fact, I've got a...
I picked up this Champ at the Dallas Vintage Clothing and Jewelry Show, along with a Knox Homburg.
It may not be as spectacular as Howard's up there, but it's a decent hat, and I'm always thrilled to find a vintage hat in 7 3/8 at a fair price. Plus it's got a wind trolley (that's not visible...
