Windward jackets by Montgomery Ward (and copies)

Quite an interesting jacket, the Windward...but I honestly think it'd be too short for my liking... Do you really find it warm enough in the winter given the short jacket style?

Hot water soalked/dryed new ELC PH

Interesting... With my Eastman A-2s, I found the cuffs & waistband would lose their elasticity after being exposed to water...but I guess you don't have that problem...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

The lining (on the body & sleeves) is wool tartan, but it's around 20C here the last few days... I never have an Aero jacket with Alpaca lining but I heard it's quite warm (& also itchy). Personally, I wouldn't wear leather in the summer... An unlined denim jacket, if necessary, would be...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

After almost two months of wear... Well folks, I was going to wait a bit longer before posting some more pictures but it seems like the weather is getting too warm for my Deluxe HB. So, I thought I would just post some pics of the jacket after only (less than) two months of wear. As...

    Custom Aero halfbelt

Nice jacket, but I can tell it hasn't seen much wear time at all... :) My one-month old Deluxe Halfbelt in jerky seal MW HH has much more wear & tear than yours... Like you, I too really like the Aero jerky seal MW HH. I think it is arguably their best MW HH.

    Mechanic's Jacket

You might want to visit Lost Worlds' website (new york based). I believe they have mechanic's jackets & other non-leather jackets in their sale section.

    "Slimming" an Aero

I agree with Peacoat. Also, if you have a good fitting jacket you can supply them with all the measurements as reference (give them as much details of the jacket as possible). I personally find the sizing of Aero's utility jackets way too generous. I think this is to accommodate today's cut...

    vintage your Mid-Weight Horsehide

Some of Aero's MW horsehides are smooth, I believe. The russet & seal brown, for example, come in both smooth & jerky. These smooth hides do not develop much of graining over time (almost like furniture leather) but they will lose their shine over time & become very soft. Maybe the black MW HH...

The 50s halfbelt has landed (but too short?)

I find it strange that the back side can appear longer than the front side. I suspect it's just the way you're wearing the jacket. Try zipping it up to balance it. Otherwise, it looks OK to me.

    Aero Armholes

That's right... I used to have a long half-belt from the 50s, and the armholes are in fact as large as those of the Aero's. However, because the hide has become well broken in, raising my arms didn't cause the jacket to lift up..

Aero Leather Deerskin. Anyone had a jacket made in the stuff?

I have a sample cut from Amanda. The thickness is not that much different from their MW HH, but softer. The hide appears to be more susceptible to staining because of its light colour, but surprisingly it's easy to clean... Here's a thread of half-belt deluxe in the "deerskin" hide...

    vintage your Mid-Weight Horsehide

What colour is the MW HH Aero jacket? My experience with the (jerky) seal Aero MW HH is that it takes minimal wearing to start seeing the grain & the red undertone. It doesn't take much of wearing to rub off the shine & the seal colour... Apart from hot water treatment which I wouldn't do...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

I weighed both jackets (the jerky seal MW HH halfbelt deluxe & the vintage brown FQHH Route 66) and it turns out the Route 66 is heavier by about 150 grams :D Mind you my Route 66 is simpler in design (less hide being used) & has a lighter lining material, as well. So, all in all the vintage...

Outdoor wear Thunder Bay by Aero

Not necessarily lower quality in terms of craftmanship, but more on the materials used (hide, etc.) being used...at least that's what Amanda (of Aero) had told me some time ago...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

I think FQHH stands for Front Quarter Heavyweight Horsehide...but I may be wrong. I have read somewhere in this forum that FQHH does get stiffer/less flexible when exposed to cold weather. This is inline with my own experience with my FQHH Route 66, but not my mid-weight jerky seal A-2. The...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

I find it hard to believe that FQHH can become softer & more supple than the MW HH. I have a FQHH vintage brown jacket (Route 66) which is still breaking in. It doesn't have the shine to start with, so hard to say. Yes, it's breaking in nicely, but what I found with FQHH is that it tends to...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

Your hands will definitely feel the items in the cargo pockets, especially if they're something bulky. They will be in the way, but not impossible to still put your hands in the handwarmer pockets. Given the depth of the cargo pockets I think they are more suitable for long-ish & flat items...

    My new Aero Halfbelt Deluxe...

Hi all, Thanks for the kind remarks. Yes, I am ecstatic to finally receive jacket. I just wished it had come a month, or two sooner :D It probably took them a day at the most to actually make the jacket, but I guess the queue is extremely long… To answer the questions: I picked MW...
