Thank you. I do agree that crown taper is not a good thing. Fortunately this stetson has less taper than I was exepting and it doesn´t look too bad. The sides are not completely straight but the taper is so mild that I can´t really notise it with naked eye.
Thank You for Your kind words gentelmen! You are too kind. Ja kiitos kehuista, Eric :)
Absolutely fabulous hats again today You all! Delectans, those Monte Cristos are avesome! And Orangegrads Fed IV is really sharp.
Today I´m wearing my brand new Stetson Chatham Sovereign with 2 3/4" brim. The crown could (should) be a bit taller (4 1/2") but it is OK as is. The quality is not as good as those vintage hats I have seen but it´s not bad. Next hat is gong to be real vintage or an Akubra... The brim is going to...
I´m waiting for someone to post an ugly hat. That has not yet happened and looks like it never will! Great posts and hats You all! I´m impressed (and a bit envious). Especially the way you guys wear your hats is magnificent.
I guess it´s time for me to introduce my self too. My name is Mikko and I live in the middle of Finland in a town called Raahe. I´m ~35 years old and living with my wife. I´m rather new to hats and I only own four fedoras and none of them is a good quality hat. But I realy like hats and wearing...
I tried to crease a hat by hand for the first time. The hat was a simple center dent stingy which I now molted in to a C crown and gave it a slight brim work. It´s not pretty but at least it´s not uglier than it was :)
The same sad situation in Finland also. There is about 5 hat shops in finland with VERY limited assortment and we are practically dependent on web stores mainly in USA (with enormous shipping fees, taxes and custom duties).
^ That is a gorgeous hat Andy! If only I´d find one like that. Could You please tell the measurements of the hat? How wide is the brim and how tall is the crown.
I calculated the "Golden Ratio" and it gave me ~ 2" brim. And I know that stingys DON´T suite me... I was hoping that wider brim would make my wide face look thinner. Have I got it all wrong?
^&^^ Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it! I´m not after emulating any specific era or fashion, I´m just after a hat that looks good on my giant melon. And as my head / face is quite large, I think I´m leaning towards getting the wider brim...
Hello guys!
I need some advise on choosing a right brim width. I´m about to get a new Stetson Chatham which has 2 3/8 brim standard but Bencraft Hatters is sellin Chatham with 2 3/4 brim. I have a quite big head (7 5/8) and wide face so I was wonderin, which brim would look better on me? Is 2...
delectans, splintercellsz, hatsRme, mayserwegener, T Jones, ManofKent, Chepstow, hatophile:
Thank You for your kind words! I personally dont like Stingys on me because the tiny brim makes my big head seem even bigger... For example ManofKent looks much better with Stingy!
HamilcarBarca3...
Awesome hats today everyone! Inspired by those beautiful Panamas of delectans I decided to wear my cheapo Panama for the evening in the garden with my wife.
When I asked my missus, do I look silly or stupid wearin a hat, she said I look a bit odd but if wearing a hat makes me happy, I should wear one. So I wear a hat and don´t give a damn what other people think.
My favorite for warm weather is my cheap Panama. It has only about 2 inch brim so it dos not give very good shade from the sun. I should get a good quality Montecristi, if only I had enough money...
Nice Bowlers / Derbys! I really would like to get a Bowler too but my wife told me that she does´nt want to be seen with Oliver Hardy... Lets hope I´ll be able to turn her mind some day...
