Hi Dennis, I have odd feet too, but so do MOST people. I am an E-width in front, but have a narrow heel, very high insteps (murder getting in and out of boots) and very high arches (I wear a support pad) and to make things difficult, my left is about 3/4 a size larger than right. However, this...
Yup, those Acmes are a fine boot; I'll throw a guess out that that the vamps are French calf, with the usual horse tops, but that's just a guess. At first, I thought maybe cordovan, but then I saw the grain in the good light and changed my mind.
And speaking of grain, Strokes, those are...
Do you or any of our western brethren know the origin of that buck stitch? I declined the similar hand-lacing (also shown along the top edge in the linked Falconhead model shown) on the side shaft seams when I had my tooled Falconheads made because I thought it was a) too much over tooling...
Good combo; I have a few 5 heels, but that's getting too tall for tired me. Some new customs, I have even dropped back a notch below--easier on the back.
Handsome boots and of course, that ostrich is very soft and pliable. Which toe did you get? Did you see the Lucchese toe and heel guide I posted above?
Sueded elephant. I have almost the identical color/skin combo in a pair of Luccheses. Elephant is wonderfully stretchy and provides a great snug but soft fit throughout the day.
Alan has great style and taste--from head to toe; I know him from the Fedora side of Fedora Lounge. And, I recognized his carpet immediately (he's in the art-publishing business in Buffalo).
GREAT boots; did you meet and deal with Nevena personally? She's wonderful and her artisanship is unsurpassed--cowboy boots by a gal who studied art in Paris; go figure.
PS, loved your sneaker boots a few posts back; actually my Ariats were brown "high tops", very supportive insole and...
It depends on how they fit; if you find a brand that does your feet right, then you'll gravitate back to them. I just had to have a newish pair of Rios Mercedes refinished--the hand-applied dye was buffed off by a gentle dust run under the (big fluffy wheel) electric buffer at my club! Boot...
Thx for the "attention" dh66--wild boots ALWAYS get mine. And as for the comment above about bleaching out leathers--Lobb or Greene, OMG--sure they think there's no deleterious effect. Just give 'em some time and watch the fibers disintegrate.
Have you heard how Osama bin Laden liked to dress and travel while hiding in Afghanistan?

I about fell out of the chair when I heard that from a just-released report on how he...
Toe bugs, as you may know, were originally a design to "hide" creasing in the vamp of boots. Back in the boot style heyday, (40s and 50s) men did not want their boots to wrinkle across the vamp, as they felt it looked like an inferior leather, so the bug was born, to both stiffen the leather...
