What Did You Drink Last Night?

Yes, it's somewhat expensive, but two things mitigate it's high price: (1) it's 130+ proof, so, to compare it to 90-100 proof whiskies, it's fair to discount its $80 price by about 30 percent and (2) it's made with carefully selected barrels, which taste better and are worth more than other...

What Did You Drink Last Night?

I had two thick fingers of Thomas H. Handy rye. I loved it when it was introduced, but I lost my taste for it a couple years ago. For some reason, I have reacquired a taste for it. Too bad it's so expensive and hard to find! :eusa_doh:

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Thanks for the compliments, lady and gentlemen! Lizzie, that long hood is one of my favorite stylistic elements of Buicks of this era! While my Special has a long hood, the 1938 Century has essentially the same body, but an even longer hood to accommodate its 320 ci straight eight.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Thanks. As to why it might be familiar, it's been in Oregon for quite some time, but I've been driving it around the SF Bay Area peninsula a bit over the last couple weeks.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

I'm pleased to introduce my first Golden Era car . . . a 1938 Buick Special Business Coupe. It has a 248 ci inline eight-cylinder engine and a three-speed manual transmission, with a shift lever on the floor. Here are a few pictures:

    The Vintage Tailoring Thread

Do you mean why is a half lining better than a full lining? Two benefits are easier alterations and the jackets breathe better.

    Royal Stetson Sovereign Whippet

I don't think it was a Whippet at all. It was a fairly recent Stetson with none of the characteristics--like a tall crown and broad, bound brim--that make Whippets desirable.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I can't see it on the hat itself, of course, but the seller writes, "TAG UNDER SWEAT BAND SAYS, BEAVER FELT."

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I was an underbidder on this rather special looking Portis, which, according to the seller, is marked "beaver." Did a lounger win it? Alan . . . Josh . . . ?

1937 Wedding Suit in vintage store today

Wow, great suit and very nice of you to pick it up for the Baron. If it turns out to be too big for him, I'm about a 38R . . . :whistling

Aftershave : That nostalgic true masculine smell!

I find Royall Muske is a good scent that isn't overwhelming and lasts pretty well. In Bay Rum, Dominicana's regular seems to outlast the lime for some reason.

    Vintage Cowboy...Whippet?

Actually, if one pokes around his site, one sees that this seller has a bunch of hats with less than impressive and seemingly less than well-documented provenance . . . and insane prices . . . Governor McNutt's Stetson ($1,700): Bar-B-Q Ranch Gus ($1,428): Stetson Bowler, made for ELC...
