1925 - 1935 Period Leather Jackets
tag tend to agree..the best way to date any jacket is find the catalogue it was sold in....I havent seen that model but that tag from Hercules cut out with pinking shears and printed in gold ink was used on their 1950s d pocket jacket as well- himelator

because I am a diplomat I will try to avoid slagging tanneries....Dave is a great guy...his biker jackets need to be smooth...grain can be raised by milling (tumbling) the leather or eliminated by hot pressing....flaws can be elminated as well. Its a complex process..strength and authenticity...- himelator

Currently the chinese will tan anything..as will most tanners. The reality is there is little demand for hh in chinese manufacture...most products require a more generic stock of leather and lamb and goat are the main byproduct animals over there combined with u.s. exports of cow. I have 5 leathers right now, pigment black and chocolate brown horsehide, and oil tan black and brown analine horse, and pigment brown (g-1 style) goat. I will not use the oil tan for the style because it is too stiff. Any order can be adjusted to specific measurements or stylistic...- himelator

Fit and Jacket I can post some pictures when I get around to perfecting the pattern. I would say it is identical to a 1920s jacket I own...identical down to the last stitch...that being said the cut is not what you would expect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_leather yeah its gross but insta wiki... there also was quilon.. and other products which plasticized suede making it waterproof and washable...they say it was used only during the war lol I like the old ads you guys have a lot of time on your hands to...- himelator

thats weird..there was a product that shows up here that was a leather that was "washable" suede that I had seen refered to as suedette in some ads. It was some kind of dupont treated leather during the "dupont" gets into the miracle fabric business time, lol. I have to go look around to find...- himelator
