http://www.himelbrothersleather.com/the-secret-plans-to-my-leather-jacket-empire/ Too eccentric...I didnt think that was possible! To be fair some of these jackets are really really rare early jackets...I am going to tweak out that turn of the century work jacket a bit to make it more design...

    Langlitz: Why not horsehide?

because I am a diplomat I will try to avoid slagging tanneries....Dave is a great guy...his biker jackets need to be smooth...grain can be raised by milling (tumbling) the leather or eliminated by hot pressing....flaws can be elminated as well. Its a complex process..strength and authenticity...

    Langlitz: Why not horsehide?

Its more then just lobbying at this point since 2007 the three horse abattoirs in the us have been shut down. It is a game of lobby vs economics. The anti horse pet vegan people go after the economics..trying to increase costs to shut down the industry...problem is when you attack the...

    Langlitz: Why not horsehide?

Currently the chinese will tan anything..as will most tanners. The reality is there is little demand for hh in chinese manufacture...most products require a more generic stock of leather and lamb and goat are the main byproduct animals over there combined with u.s. exports of cow. Right now...

Opinions on HimelBros 1920's jacket fit

I have 5 leathers right now, pigment black and chocolate brown horsehide, and oil tan black and brown analine horse, and pigment brown (g-1 style) goat. I will not use the oil tan for the style because it is too stiff. Any order can be adjusted to specific measurements or stylistic...

Opinions on HimelBros 1920's jacket fit

So the last guy here wanted it loose and nerdy...I am working on a tight fit version of this pattern and am debating whether or not to do an entirely new pattern as tapering the body would not be authentic to the period or the original jacket. I am going to make a tight fit jacket and then...

Opinions on HimelBros 1920's jacket fit

Fit and Jacket I can post some pictures when I get around to perfecting the pattern. I would say it is identical to a 1920s jacket I own...identical down to the last stitch...that being said the cut is not what you would expect. In this period the jacket fit like a sausage, the body was up...

    1920s and 1930s-style leather jackets

1930s Avro D pocket riders jacket Hey... that two tone jacket is my own design. It is based on an early leathertogs jacket that I own and an early Canadian shell back half belt motorcycle jacket. The leather is veg. tanned horsehide that is bark tanned for three months prior to finishing...

    1920s and 1930s-style leather jackets

Never taken badly....im not against the idea...but given my experience in fit issues to date...its something that takes time to work out through experience. I need to start with the standard sizing and work through the modifications. Unlike the 1930s and 40s where in house pattern making was...

Thanks ...as in Jewish tradition I am in a 7 day rememberance period. I appreciate the condolences. Also to the person who started this thread I have no issue with anybody posting my images from the site because I think the only thing worse than being talked about badly is not being talked...

British leather jackets from BEFORE the 1950s?

thats weird..there was a product that shows up here that was a leather that was "washable" suede that I had seen refered to as suedette in some ads. It was some kind of dupont treated leather during the "dupont" gets into the miracle fabric business time, lol. I have to go look around to find...
