Our oldest put the bug in his dad's head..."I'm gonna put a copper strip on my helmet".
The Mister hummed and hawed and then put a copper strip on our sons' helmet....then the brain started churning big time!
He then made this...yes, a motorcycle helmet, yes, he has worn it to town and yes...
My Grandmother Stella about 1940
And her sister, Marie, around the same time.
They both raised me along with my mom who was divorced...my GrandPapa was away on ship in the Navy.
Think:
3 Italian women, from New York...no man in the house the majority of the time...take the...
Let me see..The Mister....The "Divine Miss Em", the only gal friend I have...the dog...the cat...that's four friends. I guess I'm luckier than most. That's ok, I was an only child and have always liked my own company best :)
I would rather read, watch old movies, listen to OTR...no one else I...
Me too.
When our children were growing up, we stayed as often on these ten acres, grew or hunted what we needed as much as we could and were content to do so, taught them manners, respect, love for country and God. When the kids each got older, off they went into the big world, lived their own...
I prefer 3/4 length as I am always pushing up my sleeves even in winter!
I do like twin sets best as the cottage gets rather toasty from the woodstove by afternoon, but the mornings can be nippy!
Yes, ma'm, you are correct :o
(I am new to vintage myself, but I thought the "Mad Men" look was 60's not 50's?)
I confess...as a birthday gift to myself this past summer, I now allow myself to not be 'swayed' into 'what everybody else is doing, saying, eating, WEARING and doing what...
Oh yes, it's the best!
(Ok, well there are some featured that are...well...very unique in their style ;) but there you have it, the confidence to be yourself, damn the rest of the world! )
Just finished, "Hotel", by Arthur Haley and am starting, "The Glorious Century" by Reader's Digest. It's rather encyclopedic but it has all the important bits of history beginning at the 1900's through 1999. Rather like a 'crash course' on the 20th Century!
My friend and I meet once a week for java at a coffee house. We catch up on the week past and people watch....always plenty of fashion faux pas and a few laughs...except for the day her ex came in...that was uncomfortable :(
Must remind myself that coveting is a sin.....
Such a beauty...simply waiting to be spruced up!
That gentlemen's parlor is awesome...what a find!
Keep us up on how it goes!
At first I stayed in the "Ladies" areas as I did have the impression that it was where I was welcome to chat and that the 'mens' areas were, well, for the men!
But as I got to reading other posts about the movies, books, ect. and realised there was so much info then men have to offer..well I...
I was rather tickled that the nice man in Tractor Supply quickly came to my aide last week when I first walked through the door, asked me what I needed, led the way down the store, hefted the feed sacks into the cart and then into my truck for me...usually I do this myself, but I am thinking the...
Hmmm...all very interesting.
I made an observation when I taught preschool (3-4 yrs) for our city run program a few years back. Each day I put out all the toys which included dress up clothes, trucks, the playhouse, dolls, legos...they were put out for play each day by all of the children. It...
I did post my question about men's T-shirts on the mens thread for I thought I needed a mans' opinion on that...I did begin to search their previous threads on undergarments but began to blush and just asked instead!
I guess as long as the comments to the ladies threads are respectful I'm ok...
