I have a suggestion on the web site. I know that your older limited editions are sold out, but they still made great models for hats. My blue smoke Jazzman is one of my favorite hats (of course all of my VS hats are "one of my favorites"). I think it might be worthwhile to keep a gallery of...
Oddly the more expensive panamas with tight weaves are too hot for me too. I have an Art Fawcett with a "brisa" weave that has little ventilation holes woven in. That works great. I also think that stingy brims defeat the purpose so I like panamas to have at least 2.5" brims.
Indy Magnoli at Magnoli Clothiers makes what looks like a nice copy. I have one of his leather jackets so I can vouch for the quality. You send your measurements to him and he makes it custom.
In Hawaii someone of mixed race (like me) is call "Hapa." How about the VS Hapa?
But I have to admit that as much as I admire the craftsmanship in this hat, it doesn't do much for me. I understand the straw crown for ventilation, but what do you need the felt brim for? You can't wear it in...
I'm going to be in HK for a few days in late October. Any tailor recommendations? I'd like to have a nice suit made. Not sure there's enough time though.
It is, and just from the one photograph too. I've gotten many compliments on this hat. I think the crease is interesting. It's not weird but not conventional either. And I'm finding that its good for both formal and informal dress. And it looks different from different angles. Pretty neat.
Thanks SBG. I couldn't get a good picture but when I put it on it looks just like Standahl's. Art did his usual great job. It's an interesting hat. It feels a little less formal than a regular fedora, but I think it'll look great with an overcoat when Winter comes back.
Great hat, Aught12!
