The things you find. I'm now officially skint.
A Polish Radom with a twist:
Judging by the grips, I think he was fond of his girlfriend. I've seen my share of trench art grips, but these are pretty nice. Note the GI holster and British made mag pouch. It's kind of sad, we'll...
I'm suprised no one brought up the term "second front" yet.
That was one of the Russian names for SPAM. It was a bit of gallows humor, i.e. that can of SPAM was the closest thing they would get to a second front opening up in the West.

I shot it today. 1963 dated ball ammo works better than I thought. Don't shoot one handed in front of an audience, folks feel compelled to tell you you're doing it wrong.
There's something about a 1911 that makes me want to shoot it the old way, even though I know a two handed stance is...
I just picked up this one:
Colt, made in 1917, rebuilt at some point with a mix of 1911 and 1911A1 parts and parkerized. No arsenal rebuild marks, don't know who did it...

I just had to go to the website and look around. Now I'll spend the day debating whether or not to buy a size 11 and take a chance it fits my 11 1/2-12 foot.

The things you find...
I found this in a local shop. It's an M1895 Dutch Mannlicher with an interesting bit of folk art on the buttstock:
The stock has been duffle cut under the rear barrel band. It's most likely a bring back, question is, was Eddie the one who brought it home for his...
Someone sent me a link to this auction in jest:

I've never heard of such a thing before, must have been uncomfortable.

No, I don't wear wigs, not at all....
But seriously, the stylist put a lot of work into this one. Normally that wig is long and curly. I think she put a half pound of bobby pins in it.
The pose isn't that great, but it's a great shot of the wig:
I was told that less is more in...
swinggal,
I'm going to see how long I can resist the urge :-)
CherryWry,
Thank you for the link. Looks as if I may have to open it to see what bottle type it is.
Oh, you'll get a kick out of this: I got it at the Hollis flea market.
M
Fo :-)
Arfcom is rubbing off on all of us...
$300 isn't that bad, you couldn't get one of the postwar P-1's for that. Question is, how bad is the chrome job?
Grognard1, BTW
M
Should I open it?
I found this today at the flea market. For five bucks, I figure I'd take a shot...
It's still in the wax paper wrap. Question is, how old is it? Also, what species of Chanel No. 5 is it?
M
I vote for restoration. You're going to have to take it apart in order to just stabilize 50 some-odd years of neglect, might as well go all the way.
A car like this cries out to be restored to its former glory...
M
Well now, isn't that something? It may not be as old as I first thought.
Neat that the company is still in business.
I want to clean the thing, it has a certain eau, as in "eau my God!" Not as bad as a Soviet era greatcoat, but it does have a certain funk.
Any suggestions?

I found this at the flea market today, gave the princely sum of two dollars for it. It's a zip up jacket, but made from a knit material like a sweater.
This is the label. The color in this picture is what it's really like. Anyone heard of this company?
The zipper pull...
Vintage repurposed, or something like that.
Someone I know cleaned out a house and found this in the magazine rack:
The ammo you see in the picture was still in it when he found it. Four rounds of Remington Peters and two of Winchester Western. Not that old, no, not at all :-)
