Well, no idea about A2s, but last time I looked both Greece and the UK were in the EU, no matter what Mr. Cameron says, so as far as I know no import taxes are to be paid when you order from a company in Greece. When ordering from the US, taxes will be due.
You're quite right and I agree Maxwedge had a point here. Most members of TFL are by no means "blue collar types", quite to the contrary. Blue collar workers simply couldn't afford the toys some members here own and they'ld call us insane to spend that kind of money for boots or jackets.
But we...
There are many fields in which such a "naive" way looking at it - pure = best, blend = less - would simply give you a nonsense result, so I call this a weak point.
See, I can argue with that.
My girlfriend actually encourages me to get things, like shoes, jackets, hats, watches. For one, she knows it makes me happy, and then she also likes me well dressed and gromed. We have a bit of a banter amongst us, as she likes buying stuff as well, and each uses the own money, so why sneaking...
Well, LW seems to have solid business, so what? I could imagine that quite some folks dig that super-manly attitude and buy because, not in spite of.;)
Ah, c'mon, you only spent money on this, ok? Money, nothing else. Clean up the closet, get things to the bay or some charity, and then get yourself a nice, cool leather-jacket. Fight fire with fire, y'know.:)
AFAIK are the LHB, the Hercules and the Teamster all the same length and the same overall cut, with action-back, halfbelt and side-adjusters. I have the LHB in FQHH (sometimes I wish it would be the Teamster, definitely like the style!) and, albeit it's heavy, I manage...;)
The LHB was my first real good leather-jacket and my first Aero. I seriously love the thing, have it with no mods, only an inch longer in the torso. The fit is roomy, shoulders are sagging, the flap-pockets are bulky and the action-back too busy, but as it is, it works. :) It's my...
In Germany it is pretty easy for someone living outside Germany to get the VAT back, you only need the tax-receipt. Then you simply apply for refund once you leave the country, usually at the Airport. Don't they have tax-receipts in Greece, nowadays? ;)
Will, you're right, these are rugged boots, ok. But then, they are quite expensive boots, too. I mean, if I want boots to wear on the construction site, I go to the hardwear-shop and buy a pair for 100 bucks and no matter what they look like. But like most other, I asume, I wear these things...
You know, polishing shoes is not generally regarded as inferior task...;) No, honestly, leather needs some maintenance to hold up. You will be rewarded by longer living, nicer looking and better wearing shoes, believe me.
Received my first pair of Red Wings yesterday, the classic 8111. First resumé: Very nice shoe, supple leather, tough and rough but actually quite comfortable. True to size. My girlfriend loves them, she wants some for herself, but alas, no such small sizes available.;)
The only point of...
Normally some nice full-brogues in a tad lighter shade than my LHB in brown or a bit darker suede chucks. This week I hope to do a transition to Iron Rangers in Amber Harness, though. ;)
