Pardon my ignorance, but isn't the weather in Maine at least as bad as that found in Wyoming? I'm from the south and have never been to Wyoming or Maine, so I really don't know. But when I think of Maine, I think COLD!

Y'all northerners have to bear in mind that we southern boys rarely experience the really cold stuff like you'uns do. So 55 is quite the cold spell for this time of year.
I know I'm weird and just plain ol' different, but I like it cold and wet. I can wear a hat and sport coat without...
While this statement does not give you carte blanch to indiscriminately abuse your hat, when considered in the context of fur felt hat shaping/creasing/bashing, it's pretty accurate. You don't have to have the kid gloves on or pretend that you're holding a baby. Pretty much whatever you do to...
Congrats to you both. He might not have won the competition, but he's a winner nonetheless. I'm sure there were many who didn't have the courage to even try in the first place.

Re-Bash 2nd Time Around
Here are the pics of the 2nd attempt at re-bashing my Stylemaster. I think the ultimate outcome is that I've mainly made the crown into some kind of diamond shape. The side dents and front crease are not nearly as radical now as they were after my 1st attempt. Also...
I've done some mod work on my hats, but I'd have to say I'd be too afraid of ruining the felt and/or brim. I mean, once you cut it, you can't go back. At the very least, I'd get some old hat and give that a test run first.

I wish you wouldn't have posted that comparison shot. I've got the moonstone, but now I'm really liking the looks of that glen grey. I'm going to have to get one soon.
Me - "Hey honey, I need to order another Akubra."
Her - "But I thought you just got one."
Me - "Yeah but this one is...
Akubras and Stetsons, of course! I went walking in a light rain for about 45 minutes yesterday afternoon. I had on my moonstone Fed IV. Both me and the hat were just fine when I got done.

That's something I wonder about too, Classified00. Since the wearing of hats basically fell by the wayside a long time ago, this new generation of hat-wearers only has the older, traditional ways of hat etiquette to use as a guide. But the question you're asking is basically, "Why does doing...
Okay, I'm finished posting links that might give insight to this topic. None are really definitive. Generally speaking, I think J.T. Marcus has a pretty good grasp of hat etiquette during graveside services. I know that I wouldn't be offended whether someone did or did not remove their hat at...
I feel it too. In fact, I usually park in the farthest corner of parking lots just so I can get a little extra exercise when coming and going from a store. With my fedora on, I don't care about the rain. I just walk at my normal pace and forget about it.
