I love this movie. And Otto Preminger was such a good villain.

THE DARK PAGE - Samuel Fuller's 1944 Noir Novel

I worship Sam Fuller the director (Naked Kiss, Shock Corridor), but I never knew he wrote a novel. Thanks for the headsup.

    What are you listening to?

Recently purchased my first iPod. Tape-converters in the car make the work commute so much better. I can only listen to my Nas - Illmatic cassette again and again for so long. Recent playlists are more likely to include: The Dirtbombs - Ultraglide in Black Buck 65 - Language Arts Fugazi -...

    Where to keep wallet

I kept it in my back pocket for many years. Recently, I bought a new, much slimmer wallet and I'm trying my front pocket. But now as I brush my right pinky over my back pocket (as I am wont to do instinctually), I briefly think my wallet's been lifted. Still working on getting used to it.

Darn. Someone's always done it first.

I crush on every girl my age on The Fedora Lounge. It's nice and safe.

No surprise: this thread has out-paged the "What are you reading?" thread.

    Rope (1948)

It is difficult for me to watch/read anything of the sort after studying Crime and Punishment so many times. Contrary to that, the Nietzsche criminal arch-type never gets old. I think my main gripe with Rope is that Jimmy ain't on the screen half the time. Jimmy should never be found off camera.

Half my family is from Chi. I think after yesterday, they will finally stop chanting Cedric's and Rex's name. Thank goodness. Revamp.

    Personal Libraries

My bookmarks used to be series of bus passes, movie tickets or subway tickets. These days, in the post-WhoFramedRogerRabbit LA, I usually settle for receipts (unless I am lucky enough to still have the bookstore's personalized novelty bookmark).

    Personal Libraries

I generally do not "collect" books -- mostly because I am vicious to books when I read them (don't let me borrow a book!). But I do horde hard to find books of favorite authors when I can, regardless of how bad a condition they are in. If you do go through with such a grand scheme, perhaps...

    The DINER.

Still partial to Santa Monica's Rae's. If it weren't too busy on weekend mornings, I'd call it an oasis.

I'm sure the girls must be very annoyed with you, stealing all the eyes like that. But you won't see any of us complaining.

    NFL 2007

Let's friggin' hope so! Somebody tell Grossman he belongs in a backyard, not a stadium. And somebody tell Lovie Smith that his best player was Thomas Jones. Green Bay 2-0 :) Lions 2-0 :) Niners 2-0 :) Jets 0-2 :( Raiders 0-2 :(

Birds is actually my favorite Hitchcock film. Not sure why. Maybe the women.

    How Many of us Write?

I'm still wondering why I can't write comedy. I'm funny enough in-person (so I tell me), but on paper, all comedy I write turns out dark and twisted. As a fell nihilist writer, perhaps you can tell me your secret. How can you pitch for both teams?

    Rope (1948)

I like Rear Window better. As I've mentioned before, Rope was a fantastic scene, but a decent movie. A very decent movie.
