    Shirt collars over lapels?

Some more.. A couple of further illustrations from the family album of shirts being worn over jacket collars in England in the '20's. Aboard the Emperor of India 1927 Bournemouth on the south coast of England. I think this may possibly have been taken while they were queing for a ride on...

He sounds like my kind of chap. Take note and perhaps record his stories, his like are getting fewer every day.

    Shirt collars over lapels?

I will need to check but I have a feeling that it is somewhere like Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (UK).

"Un-dying" a leather jacket that was dyed?

If you cannot obtain acetone then it may be worth experimenting with something like cellulose paint thinners - but test on an out of sight sample first. I've used other solvents and some may well work for you but as H. Johnson rightly says it is a risky business.

    Shirt collars over lapels?

Indeed, it was de rigueur summer casual for some for several decades: My grandfather in the early '20's ...and in the late '30's

Save money! Rewax your old Barbour jacket yourself!

You'd be hard pressed to mess up rewaxing a Barbour - it's an imminently DIY job! Even if you smother and streak the wax a going over with something like a hair-dryer or sticking the jacket over a warm central heating radiator for an hour or more will see the surplus wax blend and soak in. These...

    Squadron Patches on A-2s

Looks good. As an aside I have one particular friend who was a ball turret gunner in the 91st who interestingly always added a little 'V' to represent the windshield on the B-17 on the patches he painted back then and occasionally does now. I'll see if I dig out a pic of his A-2 which was...

    J. Peterman Keeper's Tweed sport jacket

Keepers tweed is good stuff and quite apt for me having actually done my fair share of gamekeeping. A proper keeper's tweed is usually a heavy wool / cotton mix in either green or brown, the tight weave makes it hard wearing, virtually thorn and snag proof and so ideal for working through dense...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Good job I never grow weary of posting this Holkham Hall (which is not that far from where I live) link. I have several bowlers, mostly black but also grey and brown including some vintage. None have feathers ...in fact I do not think I can recall seeing any so adorned apart from the odd...

Barbour: waxed thread for hood-sewing? Or rivets?

Agreed. Hoods are often not popular over here for wear when one is engaged in some fieldsports (and by that I do not mean athletics or suchlike, I mean when one is in pursuit of fur and feather) as they can restrict vision and hearing. Like me most people will wear some sort of cap or hat which...

Save money! Rewax your old Barbour jacket yourself!

I always do my own. That said when I was gamekeeping I used to easily wear out a Northumbria coat or similar inside a year.
