    Very nice photos.

    Does this Aero CR fit?

From your opening comments I'd say the jacket doesn't fit: if you look at the photos of John Chapman and MrProper above, the jackets look completely natural and comfortable. My experience has been with jackets that are too small is that I'll initially wear them a few times explaining to myself...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

I used to think Optimos were way overpriced, but then I got one of their Montecristis. The craftsmanship and attention to detail on their hats are truly remarkable: just the color combination of the liner and the felt on your hat is impeccable.

What I wouldn't give for a few days of your weather.

The Non Shorpy Web All Stars.

I was watching "The Suspicians of Mr. Whicher" the other night, a detective series set in 1860's London and was really admiring the policemen's hats: black top-hats with black leather trim and crown. Something very ominous but cool about them.

What hat are you waiting for today?

I just saw on the Hufvud blog that Mikael has started receiving felt shipments, including the 100X Moss Green beaver I'm waiting on. Really can't wait to see what this Fepsa pure beaver's going to be like. It's a first for me.

    Well...it finally happened!

What works like magic for me is no sugary drinks, don't eat too much, and, above all, no snacks. Once in a while some cherry tomatoes or Saltines (0 cals.). For a number of my overweight friends food is an addiction ("If I don't eat something I feel faint"). Once you break a habit for awhile...

    Happy 75 to Bob Dylan!

BTW, a great exit line (depending on the audience) for pubs, over-long emails, etc. is "Well, I guess it's time for my boot-heels to be wanderin." Gravestone?

    Fedoras afield

FYI, the Atlantic magazine's Alan Taylor's been doing a weekly photo-essay on different states, and about three weeks ago did a very nice one on Alabama. I'm sure you'd recognize many of the sites. Your shots are as good, if not better, than the ones in the mag. And by the way, and with regard...

Hi, BB. On my screen both your and Jonesy's ribbons look blue, which is a color I like for a Panama. Are they blue or black?

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

My 3" brim is a lot of hat for a city boy like me. A 4" brim and you're into cowboy/sombrero territory. If you're going to curl it, the smaller size would still leave you with plenty of brim: I'm not sure, though, how well that straw will take to a pencil brim. What you could do is call them up...

Thanks very much. The quest goes on.

    Happy 75 to Bob Dylan!

What struck me most when I first heard Dylan was his Country-Blues pickin' on songs like "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. The other night I couldn't help thinking that so many of the lyrics to the songs on his early albums could reflect things going on right now.

    Happy 75 to Bob Dylan!

The reason I asked about his hat size is because I was watching "Don't Look Back" the other night and thought I noticed, in several scenes, that Bob just might be a member of the biologically futuristic "Oz-Head" brigade to which I myself belong (Debbie Harry is a member). I was thinking of...

Would anyone happen to know Dylan's hat size?

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

The custom job they did for me was a 2 5/8" bound-brim, oak-colored hat that seems to defy any sort of warping, even though it's been caught in downpours any number of times and has survived several trips I've taken. The one you're sporting above is the same as my fishing hat, which has been...

'Just Leather' Leather Jacket: anyone with experience?

Funny that we haven't seen this addressed more often. It's a tricky issue but I think Treeman's right, as sellers who have a good hide almost always want the market to know about it even if it's only a low-grade cowhide. Whenever I see "Real Leather" or its even dodgier cousin "Genuine Leather"...
