    New here, with some questions

Welcome to the fold of anachronisms. I'm afraid your friends are off if they think you're 50. At 50 some, you would still be considered a bit out of time and place, trust me. There is a wealth of information in the Lounge archives that was unavailable just a few years ago. Search, research...

That C&K was sold by JT who when he had a physical store here in St. Paul, would sell a hat like that for $50. Dang I really miss that store now. Congrats to the winner. Eric

HOLY GRAIL? /What fedoras are you pining for?

Having just acquired a lovely Lavender not Stetson Stetson fedora, the vintage hat that goes to the top of my list is a peach Portis, sterling or better quality, in my hat size 7 3/8 or 1/2. I fear that this quest, though, is foolhardy, but hope springs eternal. Eric Always one hat short.

    Cleaning satin lining

The naptha evaporates quickly and the odor disappears as soon as the naptha is gone. Warning! Highly flammable vapors!

    Cleaning satin lining

I've had good luck with water and woolite(or equivalent). I do them in a bowl with gentle hand agitation, no wringing or scrubbing. Usually does the trick. My one experiment with Oxyclean resulted in a half dissolved liner (rayon is a tricky material to clean) Eric
