    Mister Freedom Anniversary Molhalland Jackets

I quite like that, but the label on the chest makes it a non-starter. It looks quite thick and well made. I had a very similar, and surprising good quality, Belstaff Che Guevara jacket made from thick cotton, much thicker than Barbour, and I regret selling that now.

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Yeah, I've bought three pairs of Wescos from there. Very good service.

    Cordovan bleed has never diminished...

Over the last 3 years I've bought 4 cordovan jackets and only experienced a small amount of bleed on one, which disappeared after a few rubs with a cloth. I can well understand @zebedee's frustration, but I wouldn't be put off ordering one, as these cases seem pretty isolated. How about a...

    Wesco Engineer - Questions

I have the 14" version, bought on the Internet without trying on, but they luckily fit fine. As for straps, I always thought they were for show, with minimal adjustment if any. I don't adjust mine. But if adjustment works for you, then that's good. Heel lift - I thought that around 0.25" was...

My Aero Thunderbay sheep lined review. (pic heavy)

Very nice indeed. I've always been tempted, but it's too late for me to order for this year, so I'll pass again. I'm curious about the belt holes. Did you specify your waist size so that they could centre the holes on that? I imagine people's waist sizes will vary quite a bit.

aero b-3 arrived , comparison with my Eastman b-3

For me, the longer sleeves and marginally bigger fit of the Aero make that the better buy.

Cool looking IH "One Star" jacket

Could someone please enlighten me why they would do that. What does it add, other than cost?

Has anyone been able to stretch an aero for length?

Sorry, but I believe it's a non-starter, and any tiny increase you may get will soon shrink back. People here have tried, but I don't remember any succeeding. Best to either return it or sell it on, and use the knowledge you now have to get the correct length. You're not the first to make an...

Julie Leitch 25 years at Aero Leather

Congrats to Julie. She made 6 or 7 of my jackets and I've had the pleasure of meeting her a few times in the factory. Hard to believe she's done 25 years, though. The fact that she stood by Ken and his family when times got tough says a lot about her character, so well done for that too.

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

David, I'm pretty sure she'd make them to your specs, length and colour wise, as she asked me if I wanted a turn-down as well. You'd maybe need to buy a few pairs to make the postage manageable for her, as she can't be making much at all from the selling price. The USP here is obviously them...

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

Here's a pic, but difficult to make out clearly. They've been worn, so are a bit stretched. It's about 12" up from the heel and there's a vertical rib of about 5" at the top, with some fancy corner-turning at the heel. It's nothing fancy, just a decent, solid pair of handmade socks. I paid...

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

Hi David. My socks were black, so very difficult to capture any features in a photo. I'll have a try tonight and see if it works.

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

@paololital, her daughter said that direct bank transfer would be possible, but I imagine that would come with a large fee if from overseas. I think they're unsure about PayPal, unfortunately, but if it meant losing business they may reconsider.

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

As an update, I've now received my 12" high black pair, about 2.5 weeks after ordering by post and am very pleased with them. They're well finished in terms of the long rib at the top and how the heel is formed, and have a raw, homemade quality that I haven't seen for decades. These aren't...

    battered aero hides

Yeah, Aero first made the Shackleton with battered FQHH, then soon changed it to a softer, more pliable steer. To be fair, I think the lighter hide is better suited to the waistcoat. I wouldn't describe battered FQHH as more sensitive than regular hide, in my experience of owning two in that...

I'm no expert, but it looks fine to me. As a matter of interest, what's the p2p, back and sleeve lengths?

    Hiking boots, ergonomics, weight etc

@Otter, I always found elasticated breeches to be really comfortable, practical and even quick drying, and when wearing gaiters you weren't doubling material. Sadly trousers became de rigueur and the practicality of breeches was lost. I'm pretty sure I stopped wearing breeches at the end of...

    Hiking boots, ergonomics, weight etc

Ha, nice one. Can't go wrong with Paramo in those conditions, which takes us back to Ventile, but we've done that to death on here.

Hand Knitted Harris Wool Socks (very cheap!)

As an update, Mrs McKay's daughter has been in touch by email to say her mother has received my cash and order. It seems her mother just likes to knit and this is a hobby, so you can't get much more cottage industry than that. I confirmed colour and exact length, so look forward to seeing what...
