I'll second LOFT. After vintage stores and Anthropologie, which I can't afford to shop at too much, they are my favourite. They have a lot of great sales too.
Oh yes! I have those too. I've tried just about everything. I don't know why, but I wasn't thinking of those when I said pillow rollers... more the type with just the pillow in the center. Those aren't too bad, but I still have trouble getting comfy wearing them. The big loops of padding...
You have some really lovely hats, Vintage Betty! I took pics of my vintage ones today. Some of them are in need of a little freshening up.
to be continued... :)
It's possible people are, and the seller just isn't posting it for all to see. I've asked questions about things in the past that never showed up in the questions section down at the bottom. I usually just pass on things with bad pictures though. If they can't even take the time to take a...
Oh well... all the ones I've come across have. I've got the supplies to do this now and can customize them to the size I want, so I might as well keep going. Plus, I bet yours don't have pink and green polka dots on them. ;)
Thanks, Lareesie. :) They sew up really quickly. I just need...
That purple dress could totally go for that price in SF, but yeah, I wouldn't say that is really the norm. San Francisco is a pretty pricey place to have a shop, so it is understandable that the prices do reflect that. eBay started to get so crazy at one point though that I could get vintage...
I'm in the process of making my own modified rag rollers. I use Hot Sticks when I want curls quick, but they don't stay in as long as when I sleep on rollers. Sleeping on rollers is so uncomfortable... especially right now while I'm pregnant and have a hard enough time getting comfy as it is...
I thought you were supposed to buy them to fit on the loosest hooks. This makes more sense since you could then tighten it as it stretches. If you buy it fitting on the tightest hooks, you've got no where to go but looser...
My straps always stretch out too. Those clear straps they have...
There was one on Girdlebound that they had made for them in an A cup... I think only the 32 and 34 though. By the time I saw them, all the A's were sold out. :( You'd think this would maybe tell manufacturers that there is a demand for them! You can get a custom made one from Touchable. I...
Are you already hosting them on another site? I use PicOodle to host mine and then just copy and paste in the forum code they give you. I use a Mac too... there really shouldn't be any difference in the process between Mac and PC.
All lovely finds, Sunny! I agree that the last one looks like it had sleeves once upon a time, but it's still gorgeous.
That looks like a great book, Lorena..need to look for that!
This is my latest buy... Deadstock with tags 1950's wool jacket for $22.50!
Wow! I've seen some good prices on HW since moving to the east coast, but this totally beats them all! It's gorgeous! You must have some really good karma. :eusa_clap
I have a degree in fashion design... I know how to sew. Quality women's hats are mostly made by hand... tiny stitches that take time. Plus, a lot of the materials that are used in hats, heavy wool felts and buckram, aren't easy to sew through which adds more time. For that hat, she had to...
Well, this is a lot of the reason I stopped making hats to sell. It may look simple, but I look at it and see the tiny hand stitches that go into the covered wire at the back of the head all the way around, and if she does it the way I would, the blocking she did to the base under the tulle and...
oh yes! I love my Bella Band!!
Sorry about your swollen feet. :( I am so not looking forward to that. Right now I mostly just have the killer heartburn....
