Can someone explain to me down leather vest? I keep seeing them on JP sites (for example, Rainbow Country). Do people actually wear it? How would you style it? what/when do you wear (with)?
Logistically, how do you wash the down (inside the vest) after each season without ruining the leather?
For me, it’s about seeking out quality that has withstood the test of time. Modern stuff is seemingly made as throw-away after a season or two.
What’s the common saying? “They don’t make stuff like this anymore!”
All of my dress shoes (except loafers) and boots have shoe trees in them.
The question is whether shoe trees are “necessary” for (1) “dress” boots, (2) “dress” shoes, and/or (3) loafers. The answers to (1) and (2) are definitively yes. The answer to (3) is no.
Agreed. I’ve always found regular sized D pocket to be too large, albeit they are more functional. Instead, I found this Trophy jacket’s pockets to be aesthetically pleasing but likely unfunctional.
In my experience, softest leathers are deerskin and sheepskin. Pushing it would be lambskin.
If you want a sleek look, you’d want the jacket to be fitted, probably unlined or lined with a very thin material (like satin/silk).
A used JP jacket can be had for $500-750.
