Takara Shuzo own the BT brand, hence the fact that it is cheaper in Japan than US on some occasions, Blantons too. Weller is somehow in there too, but its a complicated relationship
Have Hornskov changed their lining? I saw that they lack the plastic center protector - this was always a big plus for me - not only utilitarian but also it looked so good and true to a period hat....
Lovely hat! Newt is made by Optimo, as you may know. The owner knew Graham from his days in Hawaii, and may well have been one of the initial inspirations into hats, aside from the Gentleman he purchased the business from in Chicago. Knowing you have Optimo behind you for the followup is a big plus.
I'd say it looks great, especially with a dress shirt. With Jeans too, but hey, you will own lots of hats when you start collecting, so buy a few with variety and see what style and situation suits you...great buy and looks great!
If finger fits, then size is good - could be a long oval shape...
2 2/8 x 4 1/2 versus 2 1/4 and 4 for the dark grey, Sir. The grey gets huge wear with the brim up, an the lightgrey is my Heirloom in fepsa beaver - the finest feast I have laid my hands on...
Hello. Bencraft has it at 2 1/4inch. I’d say formally it’s a 5.5cm but you may get a few mm extra thrown in!
Actually 2 1/4 inches is 5.71cm....just checked it up. As it’s made for US market I think it was cut in inches.
Happy to make you a deal if it helps with your new camera...
A Bencraft Anello model in navy. Used and hence small patch on lining and brim has character. Other than that a good brush and it’s a solid hat. Leather sweatband is nice and thick. $100 PayPal. Free postage in Japan
All Hornskov hats use Fepsa felts as far as I understand. The brims with curls have a fair amount of stiffener in them (which they have to, to keep the shape), but the one you see in grey is about as malleable and soft as any hat that has ever passed through my hands - and I mean that is a...
Its actually their Grey, and the ribbon is technically Grey, but has some brown tones which come through in sunlight and on camera. I'm actually quite pleased, as a grey on grey can be boring sometimes, and other colors can clash a bit, so delighted with Hornskov`s choice.
Lovely hat, and a fine shop NEWT is indeed. The story is that Graham had lived in Hawaii before starting Optimo, and the owner of Newt is a personal friend and had even attended his wedding. Newt has one of the finest range of Panamas and milans in brick and mortar that I have ever seen.
Let me tell you my story - I ordered a plain Editor in rabbit, then added a few extras on two occasions - DKK200 was charged for the windcord, I then realized that for DKK500 (Yen8500), I could get a full beaver, so added this on as well. Whilst their Fepsa rabbit is fine indeed, I'm glad for...
No problem - I have two bunnies (last of their navy) and natural (really both superb), and two beaver - one is the Mogul which has quite a bit of shellac because of its brim curl, but this latest one has to be one of my softest felts I own, on par with the Gannon, as its the same Felpa felt...
