My first handmade block. I chose the flat top because I wanted to see if it would create a more square bash. Kind of like the campaign hats on "Hostiles".

I hope your surgery works out well. It's been about ten years since my first one( my condition shows on my latest MRI to be degenerative, so I will certainly have at least one more)and while it greatly improved my condition, I have still not been able to go back to work. Take good care of...
I forgot my American Hat Co. wool conversion. This and my dark brown fedora conversion will be my camping/woodcraft hat. It fits like it was made for me. I'm a 7 5/8 LO but this 3/4 fits great! The ribbon will be changed when I find the right one.

I know this has probably been answered here before but I've gotten lazy in my old age. Where do all you guys buy your sweatbands? I need to replace a couple on my conversions.
There is a site somewhere on the net claiming that it is in development but the site is at least 10 years old! I lost hope it would be made a long time ago. Sad.
I just watch a video biography about his brother. He was truly a hero and it's a shame his actions have been overshadowed by his brother's foolish ones.

I hate to see this thread die. Anyone got any new adventures ahead or recently enjoyed? I've started metal detecting myself. I know not very adventurous but it's gets me out to new historic places in search of interesting relics. In addition,I get to wear my safari and khaki outfits while doing it.
I came across a short article on the Texas Historical site about some of Quantrill's "doings" in Texas and along the border.

Quantrill and his men spent a lot of time in and around here in Sherman especially during winter. There should be some sites around here if you haven't visited yet.
I just landed a very clean Swedish M39 on OFAS. The problem is that it lacks the frame. If anyone has one they want to get rid of or knows of a place I can get one, please let me know. Either by message reply or private. It is the cleanest ruck I've seen for quite some time. Posting pics on arrival.
I knew if I waited, I would eventually find the perfect hat to convert and I finally did. All I need is the right ribbon (on it's way)and to add the sewing on the brim and I will have my long awaited 1889 campaign.
I'll post the final product when I'm done. I hope everyone else still has the...
I've had no negative reaction to my moustache(to my knowledge) and I'd only give it a weak 8. As far as maintainance, I've only ever needed a blow dryer and a Kent moustache comb. I've had my mo since July 2015 and never trimmed it and only tried waxing once (rips out hairs). It's annoying on...
I think it will have to be the handlebar or some other long style that will make the come back stick. I know I said it in my other post but that's how it took hold in the 1800's. The long beard is the cool thing now just as it was in the mid 19th century. Then gradually morphed into the long...
