Thought I would show the wife about brushing. Clockwise on bottom, counterclockwise on top. Brushed across the hat brim and a lot of dust went into the air. We looked at each other and at the same time said, “outside!”
So, I took it outside and brushed quite a bit of dust off the 7xCB. I was amazed really. Every picture Ive posted is with the hat covered in dust. It looks even better now. Can’t find a single flaw in the felt.
It will definitely get a second brushing, but it’s not my hat so that will be up to her.
The trials and tribulations of the newbie. Haha

It is always amazing how much can be trapped in there and you don’t really see it Til you pull that brush across the felt and out comes a huge cloud of dust.

I’ve posted this one many times before but the discussion and recent display of hats had me digging through the pile this morning to wear this one on the dog walk and to share it again.

That's less dust and more loose felt fibers.
A touch of steam before brushing can keep the flying debris to a minimum.
Brushing hats from the early 40s and before, indoors or without an exhaust fan can be slightly hazardous due to the mercury used in the "carroting" process that still lives in the protein structures of the fur fibers flying into the air then into your lungs.

Thank you. That’s good info right there.
