Camo outerwear

What do we think about camo for everyday wear?

Not for hunting or manoeuvres or Airsoft or whatever, just as a fashion choice.

Not so long ago I picked up a woodland camo M-65 from Golden Mfg, and I love it to bits. But at the moment I feel like I love it in spite of it being camo.

So far, I feel a little self conscious wearing it in everyday situations, as though folks will expect it to represent a certain lifestyle choice. When all it actually is to me, is a cool jacket.

Funny thing is, I've worn camo cargo shorts for about as long as I can remember. I still wear them now, when it's shorts weather. But I haven't worn full length camo trousers of any description since I was about 22. I'm almost 60 now, btw.

This whole thought has been prompted by @jeo , who just posted in WJAYWT in camo pants looking about as cool as I've ever seen anyone look.

So that's my question, really. Do/would you wear camo for everyday? So you have any notional guardrails, like I do for full length trousers? Genuinely interested in people's thoughts.

For regular clothing, no, I haven't worn camo since I was in my early 20s, and even then I only had like a couple tshirts. I wouldn't wear it at all as of today. I find it tacky and also quite ironic as nowadays you will actually stand out wearing camo. I wouldn't particularly mind it as a jacket's liner though, which is something I've seen (I think Himel did it? Some Vanson collabs?).

I actually do not have any camo clothing at all, but I wouldn't mind it for training. I was close to buying camo shorts for when I train grappling, only reason I didn't was they were quite expensive and I had enough shorts so it's not like I even needed them.

I had these really nice Ralph pants for a decade and only wore them once. Ended up selling them for cheap

Personally, I would be highly reluctant to wear military camo in public. It kinda smacks of "survivalist" mind set, and in so doing, works against the "Grey Man" public clothing and associated gear protocol.

I only have 2 pieces of outerwear in camo, nothing else, and the main reason I like them is because they’re not the traditional camo.

It’s a woven wool camo pattern of navy blue and black over a medium grey background, I have a traditional baker type suit jacket and a shawl collar mackinaw type coat.

And here’s a better pic of the colors and woven pattern on the coat, this was taken after I covered the navy corduroy collar with black fur, although before trimming it.

Ive got a tiger stipe camo M-65 which I wear all the time - I think the key is selecting what to wear it with that makes it look cool, not like you're some crazy survivalist/SoF type. Your picture earlier definitely falls into the 'cool' category - looks awesome.
