It’s definitely to be sized down , how much ?

It looks like you need to look at a different model. Jacket does not look overly big in the shoulders but hilariously big in the waist/ hem section. If you size down enough to fit well in the waist, it looks like it might be too tight up top.

That’s odd it is supposed to be a slim fit 626 perfecto that is for v shape

Im also a bodybuilder I don’t b have the smallest body.

2xl vs xl cuts 4cm both in pit to pit and hem lay flat .

Double Helix A-1 from a fellow lounger came in. I like how it fits for the most part but wonder about the extra room in the back around my waist. It was even blobbier yesterday, so perhaps it just needs time.

I’m a fairly athletic build; 19” shoulders, 40” chest, 31-32” waist. I’ve found that I usually like an extra inch of room in the P2P for these “potato sack” style flight jackets (23” vs a 21.5-22” in something with mobility features).

The missus says it looks good and that not every jacket needs to fit trim, but I’d like some more opinions from the lounge as well.

Hey everyone,

First post here so pardon any mistakes. Recently picked up this 1950s Sears Hercules horsehide jacket (dark brown, lots of wear and patina, Talon hardware, 4-pocket layout) and wanted to run it by y'all for a fit check and some thoughts on whether it's a keeper.

A few concerns:
- it's comfortable when unzipped but when I raise my arms, it feels a bit snug around the shoulders and chest
- I wonder if the sleeves could be a tad bit shorter
- I wonder if the back length is a bit too short

Would love to get your thoughts:
- How do you feel about the overall length and proportions on my frame?
- Does the back length look right for this era/style?
- Definitive keeper, or should I hold out for something slightly longer/roomier?

I'm 175 lbs, 5'10 and the jacket measurements are as follows:
- P2P approximately 21”
- Length approximately 23”

Appreciate any insight or advice!

personally I think this fits amazing, like I'm jealous of how well it fits you.

The front zippers hangs nicely parallel when unzipped, the sleeves hit the right spot, and the back looks good too.

Awesome fit! I wouldn't even think about it, just wear that jacket. Very nice fit and just looks great on you sir.

Also just very good to see a younger person linking a historic leather jacket. Really cool and enjoy wearing that Hercules.

Fantastic jacket. Back length looks great to me and I definitely wouldn't want shorter sleeves. If it's comfortable then I'd say you have a keeper.

For me the problem are the big pockets looking disproportionate, but the fit is good. And you already knew the pockets were big when you bought it, so shouldn't be a problem, right?
Yeah those pockets (with the western yokes) are definitely a highlight of the model.
I'll live with them for a bit to see if I can get used to them and accept them.
Super comfortable to put my phone, gloves, wallet, etc.. To noone's surprise.
I also tightened the waist a bit which makes it feel and look much better from the back/sides.

Honestly, I think your wife is right! These jackets are supposed to have a bit of a relaxed fit, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the extra room around the waist. As long as it feels comfortable and looks good on you, I’d keep it as it is.

Y'2 Leather HNC-82 size 38.
I'm 172cm and 60kg.

Hear ye, hear ye!
What does the TFL fit check council say?
1-10?
Big front pockets giving off a bottom-heavy vibe?
The V yoke on the back not quite working in harmony with the half belt?
Definitely the right SIZE for me, but not 100% sure about the cut/model.

Imho, I would just remove the bottom pocket flaps and tighten the back waist cinch straps, everything else looks good, even that huge collar doesn’t look bad on you, and I’m not a fan of big pointy collars, it’s just those huge pocket flaps and the back looking more tubular than hourglass.

Removing the flaps would be pretty extreme and the coat would loose part of it's identity. And yeah tightening the cinches did improve the tubular back a lot. Need to be carefull not to over-do it though, otherwise it's not a good look either. I love the huge collar!

Maybe u could try tucking the flaps into the pockets? I think the fit is good and will get better over time.

Good suggestion but they are definitely NOT cut in a way to enable that - the flaps are wider than the pockets. It's more of a bold statement feature. Not too unusual - there seem to be two schools of thought as far as car coat (and coat in general) pockets go - slit/welt/open or flapy flaps. Can't say I lean heavily one way or another, but these are definitely on the extreme side haha.
