Hey!

I just got a Stetson Dune and I can’t really find much about it. I particularly want to know the make of the hat and the material composition. Thanks

Also I wonder if anybody has tips of freshening up the hat? It kinda smells.

From the outside it seems to have the same Acorn colour, hatpin, shape and measurements of the Dune, but the sweatband and liner are different from every proper Stetson 5X *** Club Dune I've seen in pictures and descriptions. maybe someone else here knows more about this than I do.

You won't find the exact makeup of different fur felts made by Stetson, they are proprietary and are never divulged. The actual current *** Club Dune (as opposed to an earlier Fedora style smaller brimmed design) was designed as a heard wearing hat that resembled the Australian "Outback" hat styles, with a brim downturned at at front and back, rather than traditional Western styling. From everything I've heard it's a high quality, stiff, and very weather resistant hat, supposedly one of their best current offerings in terms of quality. Interestingly, it's become hugely popular among Sherpas in the Himalaya.

The Dune is still a model in the G un Club series. The checkerboard liner is indicative of the 1980’s. The felt is an undisclosed blend, most likely wool & rabbit (much like today’s buffalo felt blend, especially if orders linger). Pressed in crown, etc.

If you do a search of the threads here you will find examples of using fresh coffee beans, plastic trash bags, & sunshine to remove odors & sweeten up the smell.

Thanks. I got it as an upgrade from my Bozeman. Quality seems to be alright, albeit this fur feels much thinner than what I have on my akubras
