Help identifying this Aero/Bronco A-2 sample, Maker: Ken

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up this A-2 jacket and I’m hoping some of you might be able to help me identify it more precisely.

Inside the pocket there’s a small handwritten tag that says:

ORDER: P.V.
NO.: SAMPLE
SIZE: 44
MAKER: KEN

Has anyone seen a similar white sample/maker tag in Aero jackets before? Any idea who made this one or roughly when it might date from?

Presumably that’s Ken Calder, original founder and owner. Pretty cool..

I have the very same one in the same Bronco size and steer hide. About 20-plus years. I was told those were prototypes.

This does look like one of our jackets, in which case the Ken would be my father Ken Calder, but I’m afraid we can’t really give any more information than this, its difficult for us to give you an estimated date sadly.

I would happily take a Ken jacket off your hands.

You might get a chance at some point. The sleeves are too short for me and I’m also a bit too heavy for this jacket

LOL. Let me inform you a little about this jacket. The hide is steer, not top of the line, and not heavy but not very light. Perhaps 1 mm. The zipper is very weak. Wool Knits Waistband Cuffs Seal Brown. Cotton lining consistent with A-2. I think I got mine in 2004, give or take 2 years. I got the upgraded version later, and the zipper failed as well. The upgraded version comes with a nicer hide.
