Ok so my Akubra came in! Its second hand, clearly not a Camp Draft. Maybe a Snowy River?

Not sure if I should keep the hat as is (just touched up the brim and point) or go for the cattelmans crease like a CD. Thoughts on what model it may br and what to do?

Just got this one in from @HatsBySam . This is my first Resistol, first Cattleman's crease - first real western hat, basically. This is a cool hat. I like how Sam preserves the interesting details of the original sweatband when a replacement is necessary. Very well packaged - I will be saving this box in case I ever need to ship a hatchback to somebody.

It was open crown when I bought it but I asked him to put a Cattleman's crease in it - look at that chonky thing lol! I love it. Now that I'm wearing it I think I want to see how it feels with a mule kick in front.

Fully 4" brim; quality work on the brim binding. I can feel the little gap in the front from the LO, but it will work itself out.

Not my usual flavor, but a very fun hat to wear. Thanks Sam. :)

Resistol resto from Hats By Sam.

Looks like a Snowy River. You can measure to be sure, 3.25” raw edge brim x 4” level crown (no rake) at front point & sides. You would need at least a 5.25” - 5.5” crown for a Rancher crease to not touch your head. Crown looks to be too low to take a Rancher.

Thank you, so leave as is? My first hat and I absolutely feel like a newbie.

Just picked up this Stetson Romano, looks like it’s from the late ‘80’s to early ‘90’s. The really dark inky blue is kinda cool. Bought it thinking it was black based on the post, but this color is kinda growing on me. Last pic is next to a true black Dobbs Daytona to try and show the color difference.

I have ended up with a lot of blue (that I love) that same way, especially if the sellers think they are black.

Echter Mayser "Homespun", 58 cm, made for the Swedish Market, possibly early 1960s. This is the first "Homespun" I have encountered and the Felt is a Mélange with a more extreme Rauh Finish. This is a sporty Form with a shorter Brim. Always nice to find a new Mayser Model / Quality.

Nice! I love the colors in the felt. There's red in it right?

Have been putting off taking pictures of some new hats for weeks. Today was the day though. Let's see.

Mayser Spezial homburg in black. Size 57 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Lovely hand to the felt, but there's a bit of springyness in the felt that makes is resist putting a crease in it. Nice as it is.

Got this Rockel from Marcel @Pellie (thanks, Marcel). He bought it as a size 58, but it's nowhere near that. I liked the lighter colour of it, so here we are.
Rockel homburg in grey. About size 56 with the bounf brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Not as fine a hand to the felt as the Mayser, but really nice homburg and this one has no objections to a crease. No label inside the hat.

You have so many great homburgs Stefan, and that one is no exception.

I love homburgs. I just wish I didn't feel strongly that I need to wear a suit with them because although I wear tailored clothing at work I'm not always in a suit. Maybe I'll just have to wear my suits more often!

Let's stick with the German and Austrian ones for now.
Hückel Prima velour in black. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 6cm and the crown at a good 11cm at the center dent. This one has been sitting on the hat stretcher for months now because it must have shrunk about a size and a half over the course of its life. It was supposed to be a size 56 and I got it back to that now. I have a soft spot for these even if I have several of the already I always pick up a new one as soon as I find one. You would too if you've handled one.

Thank you. While the homburg is a more formal hat in theory I find that they are very forgiving in practice and go perfectly with casual clothing as well (though maybe not so much with hawaii shirts and shorts). While we don't stand a chance against @fabiovenhorst it is always a good idea to wear a suit.

Final one for now and a bit different.
Moores bowler in grey. Size 57 with the bound brim at 5cm and the crown at 12cm. No label inisde the hat. I try to pick up bowlers if they are a different colour than black and I was thinking this could maybe be nice for one of our members here. The hat fits me fine, but would probably be too small for the size 57 and a smidge members of the lounge. What can you do?

4th Resistol Shantung 5 Star rode in on Friday. Needed a little shaping on brim & it was an long oval so made it more round. Brim is 3 1/2 inch rather than the 4 plus on the others. Great shape & it's a older hat. Wearing it out today.
5 Star Resistol Shantung Pana is riding out...Just not heavyweight enough & brim in front is puckered. It's a 35 plus year old hat & not really everyday serviceable. Seller had a return policy so I paid to ship it back. Also was a 7 Long Oval & it's narrow & fighting my noggin. Reworking a old Shantung Panama that's thin is chancy so Adios... Makes room for another hat.:p

I'm a 7 reg oval.

Stopping looking at 6 7/8.
