I have Leather Honey but not been using it on sweatbands. Maybe try it on really far gone ones but I like Saphir leather products & bought the nappa conditioner for the sweatbands. Used the Leather honey on some boots & not sure I'd use it for really delicate leather. It it helps stretching then maybe I should have used it on my Akubra Shark before & applied pressure as the band split. Not worried about that hat as it just doesn't sit right on my head.

My go to leather conditioner for old, dry leather is Pecard Leather dressing, but it takes DAYS to fully dry. Leather Honey is a nice fairly thin leather conditioner that dries pretty quickly. I like it for leather sweatbands that are already in pretty good shape. Neither of these products will cause the leather to stretch or weaken. If it have a vintage band in pretty bad shape that I’m trying to save, I’ll use neatsfoot oil, kind of as a last resort.

Every hat I restore and keep the original band, the band ar the very least gets a coat of Leather Honey

A new pre loved braided summer hat arrived today. A Knox "Las Vegas". Cute little hat. Not sure if I like it best snapped up or down. Think Ill fire up a good cigar, pour a bit rum drink and give it some sweat out on the patio today

That one looks like it wants to be up to me
I think youre right on this one..... the brim up has such a clean line. Ive got a never ending supply of snapped down front brims.... never hurts to have something a bit different to choose from. SInce Im retired and rarely wear suits, Ive been thinking of recycling some old silk ties and making up some pleated pug bands to add some variety from day to day

Looks like you are finding some nice old hats. Keep up the good work!

H.D. Stevens & Co. Not an english hat but it's italian. I know Stefan has one made by Borsalino, but i am not sure about this one. I think it's a Barbisio label. The felt is very soft and you don't need any steam to crease it. Very cool hat! Actually found a replacement vintage Whippet liner. My Royal Whippet was missing the liner had a piece of 1949 newspaper rolled up inside the sweatband when it got to me . This one should be close to being the correct period liner... It will look way better than the white satin one Ive got in it now. Been looking for one of there for a couple years now... SUCCESS!

I've been keeping an eye out for one of these for a while. Not Newt, specifically, but a legit snap-brim fedora Montecristi. I lucked out with the box and the doo-dads inside - I love that kind of thing. Not the finest weave, but I'll take it. : )

I'm wondering who did the wholesale production on this hat. I know Brent Black and Optimo have both produced hats for Newt at different times. If I had to put money on it, I'd bet Optimo made this one.

I may take this one out of the box and put my Gambler in the box instead - that brim needs more protection, anyway. I hate to break up the original set though.
