I just received my Thedi Memphis in Cacao buffalo leather from Thurston Bros. This jacket is a work of art. The fit and finish is perfect. The leather is a thing of beauty. Photos don’t do it justice. Definitely worth the long 9 month wait.

Awesome choice and terrific fit! Congrats on a perfect jacket. If you waited 9 months, then I should be due for mine in a month or two.

Anyone have experience with the Thedi ranger horsehide jackets? How would you describe and or compare the hide to others?

The regular 1.2 leather is already very soft and effortless to move around in. I wouldn't expect to feel any substantial difference if you selected the black 1.1 ranger leather. Maybe it will be slightly more breathable.
I would ask Thedi for expert details on the minute differences between the two thicknesses. Then you can decide if that precision difference is meaningful for your purpose and use of the jacket you select.

I’m sure it varies substantially from model to model, but I’d like to know about people’s experience with the height and diameter of the armhole on thedi jackets. Do they tend to be high and narrow or more western low and wide?

In my honest opinion they are(for my body) perfect , a mix between the Japanese and US-made jackets,(think Cherubim mate :) ) slim looking but amazingly comfy.

I know I'm a Theodoros/Thedi-stan, but I can't understand what kind of magic Theodoros uses to make his jackets so frikkin' comfortable to wear, while still having that "rockstar slim"-look that I personally love, crazy stuff really.

II may be super lucky with my build, but before getting my first Thedi leather jacket(Memphis with shawl collar) I never thought a leather jacket could feel SO GOOD TO WEAR, no break in needed, just perfect from day one(the jacket that is, I put on some weight during my 3-month wait so it was a bit snug haha, but that not Thedis fault xD).

Like I said, take my words with a bit of salt mate, but I really believe Thedi makes jackets that look amazing, from some of the most interesting leathers out there, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, he makes jackets that you want to wear because how easily they wear(can't find the right words in English but hopefully you understand catch my drift brother, all my (3)Thedis are like that).

Sorry for not really answering your question mate, but if you find a Thedi model that you like just go for it, they are truly amazing :)

Cheers!

My experience was that the arm holes were too high and narrow. It was very uncomfortable and I sold the jacket.

I think a more important factor is the design of the sleeve to body angle. Rather than strictly the arm hole height. A low arm hole will make it easier to put the jacket on if you have limited mobility. The angle of the armholes to the body determines if you can reach for something without the jacket lifting up to your chest. For example a jacket designed for bow hunting has the sleeves attached at a neutral position when your arms are by your face with the bow string pulled back ready to release. A suit has the sleeves attached to the body with a neutral position when the hands are straight down by you side. It would be difficult to change a lightbulb overhead wearing a suit. It would be easy with a bow hunting jacket. It's not because of the arm hole height. Its the angle formed between the sleeve and the body. Thedi jackets do favor longer lean body types. The sleeves are definitely not oversize like type 3 jackets. If you have massive shoulders and biceps they probably won't fit you very well. Not much different than the way most other jackets would fit a bodybuilder physique.

Thanks for the info. Not a body builder but can’t stand the feeling of the lower aspect of the armhole pressing into my armpits as happens when they are either hight or narrow. Agree that other factors determine mobility.

If you like more airflow around the armpit area a Thedi jacket is probably not a great match. Bomber jackets are probably the best for that. Someone would have to be really ripped to get any armpit chafing wearing a bomber. Aero's generally have more room in the arm hole, sleeve and cuff.
Ironheart is another one to stay away from. Especially the cuff area can be shockingly tight on Ironhearts.

Time comparison for order fulfillment

Thurston Bros vs Thedi Direct

Carrie was quoting me 8-10 months lead time

Theodoros said 70 days.

That is a massive difference. Does anyone have comment on if ordering thedi direct is faster and or accurate based on quoted times?

I have ordered only once from Thedi directly. Was quoted 60 days from Theodoros. Received my jacket around 7 months later. That was back in 2024.

Very likely he prioritizes his direct business over Thurston and other dealers, so I would totally expect him to take longer if not direct.

This said, 60 or 70 days is just lying. I ordered from him end of November 2024 and received the jacket in early March 2025, so around 90-100 days. I don't think I've seen anyone get it in the time Theodoros provided and he seems to have just increased 10 days to the lead time.
