I have Leather Honey but not been using it on sweatbands. Maybe try it on really far gone ones but I like Saphir leather products & bought the nappa conditioner for the sweatbands. Used the Leather honey on some boots & not sure I'd use it for really delicate leather. It it helps stretching then maybe I should have used it on my Akubra Shark before & applied pressure as the band split. Not worried about that hat as it just doesn't sit right on my head.
My go to leather conditioner for old, dry leather is Pecard Leather dressing, but it takes DAYS to fully dry. Leather Honey is a nice fairly thin leather conditioner that dries pretty quickly. I like it for leather sweatbands that are already in pretty good shape. Neither of these products will cause the leather to stretch or weaken. If it have a vintage band in pretty bad shape that I’m trying to save, I’ll use neatsfoot oil, kind of as a last resort.I have Leather Honey but not been using it on sweatbands. Every hat I restore and keep the original band, the band ar the very least gets a coat of Leather Honey
