Help identifying this 1940s leather sports jacket? Talon zipper, beautiful patina

Hi everyone,


I recently picked up this jacket from a vintage shop in Tokyo for around $300, and I'd really appreciate any help identifying the maker or period. This is my third 1940s leather jacket. My other two are a W.B. Place & Co. deerskin jacket and a Sportsclad A-2 horsehide bomber jacket, so I am excited to learn more about this one.


My first thought was Rich Sher, but the more I look at it, the less certain I am. It also reminds me of Thurlow, Sportclad, or perhaps another American maker from the late 1940s, after WWII.


Some details:

• Talon zipper
• Plaid wool lining
• Cropped fit (25-26")
• Side adjusters
• Chest zip pocket with ring pull
• Great, heavily worn patina that I absolutely love
• There are no labels left, unfortunately.
  
  Does anything about the pattern, construction, pocket design, collar, or overall style point to a particular manufacturer? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like an Albert Richard to me.

Which shop in Tokyo did you get this from? I was just there.

Sorry, the shop is not from Tokyo, I mixed it up. Mums from Shiga Prefecture/Honshu.

Mystery solved! It definitely appears to be an Albert Richard.


I found another Albert Richard jacket, a brown horsehide car coat from the 1940s, with the exact same plaid wool lining, which pretty much confirms it.

Came across this weird ebay listing and am curious about the jacket in the photos. Any ideas of the make or model? Really into the collar, mixed pockets (zip chest + open hand warmers), simple back design and the shape. Would be super interested in knowing if anyone is presently making something close to this.

Zippers look like YKK, most likely it is wanna-be-vintage replica, especially as it has sizes
