Your take on the Cossack jacket?

Do you have fit pics? I want to see how that waist band looks on you.
No, I don’t often take fit pics as I’ve used the same measurements (give or take a gut 1-1.5 inches) for 17 years. I’ve only had two mishaps, fixed by losing weight. I asked SB to make the v2 loose fitting to that I can wear a hoodie under it in Hokkaido winters.

Maybe not the "typical" Cossack jacket, but I did order a Thedi MTC-1279720(which is a half belt zipped jacket) with a cossack-style collar instead of the classic one.

I really love how the collar goes with shirts, and I do think the design is a bit more "fun" for loss of better word, compared to a classic half-belt collar for example :D

Anyway, I'm all for Cossack jackets and love seeing them here on TFL and in the wild!

Being a style popular in the 20's-30's, I like it with buttons and boxy, on the "cropped" side, so to wear it well with high waist pants. I really dislike cossaks wit the 70s pattern (long) that unbalance the style (imho). I agree with the ones saying that buttons require soft leather. I have an Himel's and I think that David is a true master in this style

Another vote for the buttons and soft leather combo based on my very positive experience with my Aero Aeromarine in Pinnacle horse hide. I was a little concerned about the buttons, having read bloodcurdling accounts of Cossack owners who almost broke fingers trying to button them, or who were nearly permanently trapped inside their jackets because they couldn't be unbuttoned due to the stiff or heavy leather. Pinnacle poses no such dangers. It buttons almost as easily as a cloth shirt does. I've had the Aeromarine for a few months now and the leather is breaking in nicely, and was extraordinarily supple and comfortable the first time I put It on, just as advertised. Here's a picture showing progress so far.

There's a lot going on in the back of that jacket but love it anyway!

I've been wanting a Cossack for a while. The collar has a great casual look to it. As others have said, it's a leather jacket that isn't trying too hard but it still has a unique style. My current leather jacket is a custom black biker from Field Leathers. I love it but it's definitely an aggressive look and not always what I want to put out there. I've long thought a light color Cossack would be almost a polar opposite option.

So I've eyed the Aero Aeromarine and the MF Campus and different options from Thedi. Excited to say that I went for one over the weekend but I think I'll make a new post about it.

What do you think of this Cossack version by Real Simons?
Made of horsehide with lining and an interior pocket.

Looks like a panel to panel copy of the Levi's Einstein Jacket, not sure if it works so well in the heavy leather but maybe better when broken in.

I have two, both of them by Double Helix, one in semi-aniline HH and one in full aniline HH. I could see myself getting another, I love that style. Also like Mister Freedom's Campus Jkt. I prefer mine with buttons over zippers.

Just saw there is one of the LVC Suedette (cotton) cossacks on Vinted atm, think it was listed about £170.

Have one of these and its quite thick material and more of a fitted cut, its a nice, non leather, option.

Edit: Its here. The sellers sizing is all over the shop though, calling it a M/L but saying its labeled and XL (?). I have one in the XL and it fits me as a slim 44"

That's a cool jacket. What I don't get is that chest is 20" and P2P is 22... ‍
Anyway, if you're looking to get a textile version, I saw this was posted on Vinted this morning as well:

Pretty cool one imo!

Based on mine the 22" measurement is probably right, I'm a 44" and this fits snugly but okay due to the cut, it is slim in the shoulders and the armholes are high. I don't know where he's getting the 20" from.

Thought I might give this style a try. I bought this brown horsehide cossack jacket from Real Simons. The leather quality is very good. However, be aware that their advertised sizing is incorrect.

If you buy a leather jacket from China, be sure that you have the correct size. I had a negative experience with this order from Real Simons trying to do an exchange. I was attempting to exchange but Fed Ex and UPS wanted $400-$500 to ship back to China, for a $600 jacket. USPS wanted $150 to ship but with unknown delivery time. This was my first time trying to send items back to China. Maybe someone here in forum knows a more economical way to send back.

The error was a misrepresentation error on their website for their brown Cossack horsehide jacket. I even emailed them for their sizing recommendation before purchase. The jacket in size medium was listed having a shoulder measurement of 18.11 inch. The actual jacket I received was 17" in the shoulder. The fit was not ideal and not as advertised. Real Simons verified that the listed size was incorrect with a stock jacket from their warehouse. They only offered to exchange. Will likely end up reselling but nonetheless was frustrating.

This is why it pays to go with an established, trusted and vetted maker over some no name nothing made in China. I’m sorry to hear your experience but it doesn’t surprise me and it’ll be tough if not impossible to recover 1/2 your initial investment. I would chalk it up to a lesson learned and move on to something worth your investment with some degree of post sale support.
