P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a possibly early to mid 1930s. It was made specially for the P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82 which didn't survive WWII and is NOS condition. I found this Homburg Hat back in 2019.

The seller of this Homburg is the wife of Arnulf Meifert the original drummer of the progressive Krautrock band Faust. They live in a castle / schloss in Bavaria that belonged to her family. "Dr. M" was Arnulf Meifert's father who was a well known Berlin "bon vivant" of the 1920s and 1930s. I also purchased his C.W. Borchert Berlin W. Stiff Felt.

Habig Hüte, Berlin at Night: Friedichstrasse - Lindenpassage (1928) Postcard. I found this postcard back in 2012.

Another stunning hat, more amazing history and ephemera. Wonderful stuff, Steve!

Time for one of my favorite older Stetsons today. Ive always been curious about the gold USA embossing on the sweatband. Ive seen a half dozen like it but dont know the backstory behind it ( if anyone can enlighten me Im all ears)

As normal, all my hats go to the Lab for testing, selection and approval

I love this one. I hope someone knows the back story about that label as well - the lab, however, doesn’t look impressed lol.

Cavanagh stingy brim. I like this one. The brim wants to stay up. It’s a smidge loose on me; gonna get some cork strips to pad it out. Very comfortable.

Am I wearing my hat inside? Why yes I am. It’s raining today, and I’m stuck working in this office anyway - might as well make the most of it. :)

Sorry for this quick tangent, but every time you post a picture you remind me of the bespoke tailor Kevin Koch. You guys are definitely doppelgangers in my opinion.

No worries - I’m the king of tangents lol - I believe this is what Einstein called “spooky action at a distance”. :)
