Thank you @VoodooSan for your kind words. Largely the credit goes to Tibor from Carlisle Hats in Melbourne who sourced the felt and then made the hat to specifications refined by Gemini AI with the idea as mentioned coming from a forum’s member post of shaggy hats. The felt colour is called bronze. Nice to bring another hat into the world. Now to get around to wearing them.

Today’s travelling hat. An unlined Panama for heading to Darwin next week.

New to me 1950’s OR Royal Deluxe, natural colour I think, arrived yesterday.

Lots of signs of age. Some sweat/water stains, the ink in the liner has melted onto the clear covering, obscuring the text, and when I got it the trolly chord and paper label both fell off, I reattached with a few stitches and put a paper backing into the label to keep it together.

The leather sweatband has a little shrinkage on one side but is otherwise remarkably supple.

The felt however is really nice, much more like my Borsalino in terms of softness and ease of shaping. It needs little to no steam really.

Probably overpriced really as it’s nowhere near mint condition, but is completely wearable and since the felt is near perfect condition I’ll consider it a fair deal.

There is the smell of mothballs, which is a good think considering. I suspect somebody bought it, put it in a drawer or cupboard, and left it there for the best part of half a century.

My hat for this morning's dog walk was an early-to-mid-50s Knox Premier Madison Avenue. It was originally purchased from The Crescent Store for Men, in Spokane, WA. The store opened for business in 1889, and grew to a chain of seven over the years, before finally closing in 1988.

I have one in acorn. Did you flatten the brim a bit? Mine curls up at the back a lot more and I’ve been trying to reduce it a bit.

This hat is branded Ugo Puri - Sooros(that seems the name of the hats or type); the shop was in Rome some years ago.

It's a Homburg or maybe a Lord hat with a unique feature: it's lightweight.

It's a size 59/60, and the finish, as you can see from the inside, is superb.

The felt is very thin, and with the slightest touch, it can stretch or lose its shape.

The contrast between the ribbon and the brim trim is very interesting.
Who made the hat? Ugo Puri says it was made specifically for his shop, and someone tore the paper label.

I've tried to speculate, but none of the large or even medium-sized Italian brands carry this style.
I believe, and am almost certain, that the hat was saved by Stefan, who generously exchanged it with me.

Its still got some up curl in back, but over time I have flattened the front and the sides a bit so the snap in front isnt so deep

Thought Id wear the little Open Road Ive been rehabbing for someone this morning. Replaced the rotted sweatband, cleaned, worked some surface blemishes out and did some reblocking and stretching ( The owners Grandad was a 7-1/8 and he is a 7-3/8) . Got the ribbon and bow done last night (Did decide to go back with the thin ribbon). Now I just need to reattach the wind cord and put in a few tacks to hold the hatband in place. Always fun when a project nears completion

Tibor from Carlisle hats Melbourne Australia. Excellent to work with and happy to source hoods from all over the world. I trusted his opinion that such a felt should not be stiffen and he was on the money. My formal fedoras and homburgs are very stiff cowboy weight beaver thats suits them while this is more like the “poet” concept where each day it looks a bit different. He has made five hats for me.

Oh and I think it might have been @steur that gave the post that inspired the idea.

Here it is on its maidan outing with my niece driving and me drinking plus picking up the tab which is only fair.
