The autocensor arrived unannounced and with no forewarning to us as a default element of the latest software update to the underlying architecture on which TFL sits. Management are working in the background to see what can be done to end its reign of terror. I've seen some poorly designed it in my time (up to and including the cultural malignancy of generative ai plagiarism software), but this is a special form of awfulness from the same pit of hell as Sam Altman.

Still working on it, I'm afraid - it appears to be something much more integrated into the platform architecture that we don't have direct control of.

@StoryPNW allowed me to be the next care taker of this beautiful PB. It seems to be a very unusual color, almost a dull robins egg blue/green/gray.

It’s a spectacular hat, here’s a quick comparison with other gray toned felts to show the color difference.

The filter is insidious in that it is filtering words that aren't on the list of words to filter. The majority of the **X'd out stuff is deservedly cut out, but it's also catching words like the unlisted s c a m, which is dumb.

This has all the markings of an old ******in board PHP edit replace type of function. Enter in a list of banned words and it auto replaces with **. It’s at its most amusing when a word on the “banned” list censors just part of another word because a shorter word is contained in the larger word is on the list. This worked fairly well for the limits of the code for its time. Late 90s into 2010s or so. But seeing it pop up now feels a bit dated. Doesn’t really feel to be AI generated at all… AI at this point is fairly decent at picking up context. This is very much cut and paste type of censorship

im guessing somewhere there is a banned words feature / plugin along with a banned words list
