Advice: Double Helix Unus Burgundy

I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a custom made double helix unus but in burgundy leather. With nut buttons of the helix rider tres, hardware in brass, lining in white cupro. What do you guys think? I posted two pictures, one is the unus in black, the other one is the rider tres, I guess the new jacket will be a mix of the two. Love the burgundy and how the earthy tone of the hardware fits. The asymetric design of the front is well balanced with the chest pocket I‘d say. Action pleats in the back should help with movement, also part above the belt has more of a v-shape, the lower part an a-shape.

The rider tres looks absolutely outstanding, congratulations on that one! I really like the back of the tres. Was deciding between that one and the unus. Any thoughts about the length of both in comparison? The unus is 3cm longer, thought about shortening it but I think its part of the design to have a bit more of elongated look. Will probably leave it at that. For a moment I was thinking about taking the rider tres and match it up with the frontside of the unus, its just a matter of changing the front pockets. I saw you changed the thread from black to orange. Any other alterations?

Good pictures of the unus one the pinkomo, havnt found many so far, but this helps a lot, thanks a lot for the link! Kind of seals it for me that the chest button has to be in brass.

The more I look at leather jackets with buttons, the more I like them. They look a bit more refined and calm than the ones with zippers I would say. Its of course a matter of preference, but in terms of style I like it more and more.

Yeah, I thought the same, but after you buy one, the novelty wears off quite fast and then you might get annoyed that they're not as practical as zippers.

I have worn the Ralph Lauren Shearling Trucker Jacket for about half a year now, and I am still quite fond of the buttons. Same with two peacoats own. I agree it takes a bit more time, but I dont mind it at all.

I actually has the tres and the upcoming Unus shortened 3/4 inches in length and the sleeves just fit better for me the jackets are a size 44 I am 5’9” tall

Might be just me then. I bought a Thedi Hektor with buttons and while I do like the jacket, I regret not getting it with a 2 way zipper + zipper sleeves, since I anyway had the option to customize it however I wanted.

Zips can definitely be faster, though buttons are an undeniable win on practicality terms if one breaks or otherwise needs replaced, vs a broken zip!

@Jaymig926 - that's a really striking jacket. A lot of bells and whistles, so nicely combined that it works really well.

Yes I noticed, looks nice. I will probably stick with the orange thread, hope for it to be bold and punchy.

I like the Unus as it is being sold in Pinkomo, but I don't like the "current" one which has buckles at the bottom hem rather than the half-belt. I know there are original / historic jackets that did this as well, but to me it seems like a poor design choice. If you do a half-belt then put the buckles at the same level.
