Heading out today under a cute little unknown hat from Meyer the Hatter (no tags beyond the Meyer the Hatter liner).
Kinda of a camel tan color, 3" bound brim, 5-1/2" crown, nice smooth felt and snaps nicely

A happy Purim to any who celebrate. I am here in Israel on this holiday wearing a Bukharian kippah, a traditional, often hand-embroidered, full-head-covering yarmulke featuring vibrant, intricate patterns, originating from the Bukharan Jewish community of Central Asia (mostly Uzbekistan).

The variety of hats here is limited (unless you like black, then there are lots). I think I have found a way to rectify that with the availability of some nice European hats that can be sent here relatively inexpensively. A few are on their way.

I’m Learning late in life about the many varied groups of people scattered throughout the global diaspora. My niece married a Bukharian boy, and my son was engaged to a young lady of the same background. The niece’s wedding in Forest Hills, Queens, was beyond astounding, and unlike anything I had ever experienced. A three day event! With fedoras topping traditional celebratory clothing, and five (yes, 5!) rabbis.

Nice hat. I love how the colour works with the colours in that shirt (great design, btw - perfect example of that 40s / 50s style of pinup that is cheeky rather than sleazy. That cheesecake 'innocence' , for want of a better way of putting it, that the likes of Vargas had compared to a lot of later stuff).


Cute hound too! I'm nowhere near so well put together throwing on a denim eight-point cap to take our little man out to use the ***** bathroom this evening!

Mr Bear always checks and approves my lids out when I step out for morning pics..... on a couple of occasions, hes actually helped pick out the hat of the day when I cant decide lol. Many a morning Ill get to the coffee shop and realize I have Labrador slobber somewhere on the hat.

Morning dog walk today took place under what I believe to be a late 40s to early 50s Lock & Co. melusine. Not quite Tom-Baker-as-Dr. Who dimensions, but substantial. 3" brim, 4.5" crown, with a 1.75" ribbon.

I have a couple of westerns that are SO largely proportioned, that I only wear them to g*u*n shows, or annual meetings of my Cowboy Action Shooting club.

Today I went to the Nampa g*u*n show in my Resistol Hi-7/5 (the variation with the 5" brim).
