Might consider beveling and burnishing the edge of the leather. Look into an edge burnishing creme called Tokenole ( comes in clear, brown and black tint) bevel or sand the sharp edge off the leather, apply the creme and rub/burnish it in with a piece of canvas... The clear allows any core colors to show through. Nice clean appearancePlaying around with some blood core leather from Rosen Anvil. It makes a fun hat band!
