Beautiful sunny new years morning in East Texas. Good time for one of my all time favorites. too bad it had no liner so ive never been able to figure out what it actually started out as. Its a modest little Royal Stetson Whippetish like thing thats been here with me about 3 yrs... It gets the honor of being the first hat of 2026

I chose this very old, beat-up, battered, and tattered Mallory bowler for the first day of the new year. In a lot of ways, it feels like me after this past year.

We like to say at the new year that we’ll leave the trials of the last year behind and look ahead with a clean slate. But sometimes we don’t get that choice. Sometimes we carry parts of it with us.

Maybe a bit worse for wear… still moving forward, mindful of where we’ve been, with an eye on the future.

For Old Lang Syne.
Wishing you all a happy new year.

Old worn hats up top just let everyone know that we survived and are still kicking!

One of my favorite and most comfortable Resistols today. A wonderfully soft green Bryer Rolnick Resistol 880 ( homage hat for the Convair 880 airliner so Im assuming the 1960s) Ive also got a 707 model... guess they had a whole series of airplane hats! Love these short brim Resistols.

Always a pleasure to see that KU, Nathan! Beautifully creased!
Thanks Phil!
Happy New Year, Nathan. Today is one of those days that no one would blame you if you stayed on the porch. That Kings Umbrella is a good looking hat! Who makes it? I‘m out of the loop.
Thank you!

King's Umbrella started as a small Etsy operation. Brent "Deadly Handsome" found them. The hat maker, Alan, had gotten some felts and did a great job making a few hats for a very very inexpensive price.

It seemed for a minute that once his felts ran out, he closed up shop; but he does have a website now so maybe he is still producing?

Here is TFL's thread for them:

And here is his website:

Would love to hear an update if you do reach out. So far, this was my favorite bespoke hat experience (of three).

You CANNOT show that one off enough, Nathan!
Thanks Voo!

Oh yes!! That looks great Phil! What a wonderful New Years treat for you (and it must help take the sting out of you know what...)

Looking forward to reading more!
Thanks! I’ll post more tonight in the Gannon thread. I’ll go ahead and tell you I love it! I’m gallivanting in Florence with it as my topper in a light rain.

Yeah it still stings. I didn’t expect to win, but was hopeful. I didn’t see a blowout coming.

Looking good in that OR!

R. & M, Wegener, possibly later 1920s. The Taupe color Felt has a very soft Hand. The Crown is Tall and has a nice Form. The Brim work is very well executed, with a Hidden Stitch Over Welt. The Wide Band is a Light Golden Brown, which creates a pleasant contrast with the Taupe Color Felt. The Sweatband has some heavy wear especially at the front. The Crown Tip Patch is actually offset. I found this Curled Brim Soft Felt back in 2014.

I haven’t been able to see the hat pictures on your last two posts. On your last post, I was able to see the shop front photos, just not the hats. On this one, I can’t see any of the pictures. Disappointing, because I always enjoy your amazing collection.
